want to share my experience so other pet owners can make an informed decision. On Friday 24th October 2025, my dog Jeffrey was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. The vet we saw, Luke, advised that with renal food and supplements, his condition could potentially be improved to stage 1 or 2, and that we could still have months or even years with him. Based on this, I immediately ordered the recommended food and treatment, believing there was a realistic chance to manage his condition. However, by Tuesday 28th October, Jeffrey had significantly deteriorated—he was lethargic, not eating, and not even able to go for a walk. I contacted the practice, and he was admitted and placed on a drip overnight. That evening, I visited him and was very concerned to learn that there would be no staff present overnight, apart from a nurse briefly checking in. This was not made clear to me beforehand. Given his condition, I did not feel comfortable with him being left unattended for long periods. I was told I could transfer him to a pet hospital for overnight care, but at a cost of around £1500 per night, which put me in a very difficult position. The following day, I discovered that Jeffrey had injured his nose while in the kennel. I do not accept the explanation given that this was caused by bedding, as the injury appeared consistent with him trying to escape under the kennel bars. We were charged approximately £200–£300 per day for his care. After speaking with another veterinary practice, I was told that, given how advanced his condition was, euthanasia should have been considered sooner, and that prolonged drip treatment may have unnecessarily extended his suffering. Despite this, I felt pressured to continue treatment, and when I questioned stopping the drip, I was made to feel guilty about that decision. On Thursday, I made the heartbreaking decision to have Jeffrey put to sleep. In hindsight, I feel that the initial prognosis given to me was overly optimistic and may have influenced decisions that prolonged my dog’s suffering and increased costs. I also believe I should have been clearly informed about the level of overnight supervision before agreeing to hospitalisation. I would urge other pet owners to ask detailed questions about prognosis, treatment expectations, and overnight care arrangements before proceeding.

I have never experienced such a skilled, kind and customer friendly veterinary practice . Always made to feel welcome and everything explained in detail and my dog Morpheous loves visiting too . Being privately owned prices are reasonable too . All in all a first class practice in every way .

Amazing, Our cat was extremly poorly and needed urgent attention. We took it straight there and they saw her straight away. She was examined and given the necessary attention and medication. She is now on her way to a full recovery. We can't thank the vet and staff at Sutton Farm Market vet's enough. Gracie also sends a big thank you.

Can't thank the team enough for the patience and understanding they have for my big nervous rottweiler. He has complex health problems and recently needed an operation, but family feels much better knowing the team genuinely care for him and take the time to let him know he's among friends. After his op, he was still overjoyed to go back for his follow up appointment and we're so glad he is happy, loved and welcomed there as it clearly makes a big impact to his wellbeing and anxiety management, despite the understandable stresses that come with having an op. Huge thanks to Ben and the team, with love from Kylo and his family 🐾

The best vets in Shropshire. Having worked in corporate vets I was so pleasantly surprised when I decided to take my doggos to an independent vets. We travel a little to get to the Shrewsbury branch but its so worth it. Everything about Market Town is brilliant. From the care to the space. Having 2 anxious rescue dogs it helps so much that the reception area is calming. The staff, from reception, nurses and vets are brilliant. So thoughtful and will always put your pet first... not profit. They do not rush you in appointments and take the time to explain things like I've never experienced before. There care plan is brilliantly priced. And they really do go above and beyond! Having worked in a vets, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
