Put my lovely Yorkie girl to sleep today. Richard and his lovely team of girls were wonderfully kind and caring treating my Bella with such dignity. Richard did everything he could to give Bella a quality of life to the end, I couldn't imagine being with any other practice. Thanks everyone you do an amazing job x

Has to be one of the loveliest businesses I’ve ever gone to! They do everything so you get best value for money, they don’t force you to buy pet products from them. They genuinely care about your pet. I went there for an initial health check of my dog and Richard was so lovely.

Honestly the most caring and considerate Vets I’ve visited! I have been taking my Frenchie for 4 years and must admit that they have been second to none in supporting me and my pooch! My pooch is a bit of a handful and not so nice when she isn’t well, but they look after her with respect and care! Recently there has been some obstacles with my pooches health and they have always been ready to support, help and explain what’s going on. Can’t fault them in anyway! Ignore any bad reviews, these are great! Massive shout out to all! X

We have been with Richard and his team for the past 7yrs. We have had nothing but first class care and treatment. From a welcome from the reception staff as you walk in to nurses stopping and fussing the our boy as they walk past. Richard is so caring explains everything he is doing. I won't ever be going to another vets Well done team keep up your good work

I have been with Richard and Vale Vets for the last 10 years and I have had nothing but a great service throughout those years. More recently this past December my dog Lexi who is now 13 years old went in for a general check of health, but Richard discovered a mass growing in her stomach. It was not looking good for Lexi as she was an older dog. We didn't know how she was going to react to surgery, we didn't know whether or not she would survive the anesthetic and we did know how much of the mass had integrated into the rest of her body. We made the decision to go ahead with the surgery to give Lexi the best chance of surviving. Richard and his team went above and beyond to care for Lexi and I could never have asked for a greater group of people to care for her. Somehow Richard managed to remove a two kilogram mass from Lexi, Lexi only being 18 kilogram to start with. The surgery was successful and Lexi had come out of the anesthetic. We went in to the surgery to meet with Richard and to see Lexi for the first time, we were given all of the options where it was a 50/50 chance whether or not Lexi would survive the night and we made the decision that we would care for her at home regardless of the outcome, which we had the full support of Richard and his team and again I echo that they were amazing and went above and beyond their job and they there responsibilities. Richard didn't have to do this but he kept in touch with me. He was about to go on holiday with his family, but he kept in touch with me all the way through the night to make sure that Lexi was still going strong. Lexi made it through the night. Lexi was back at the surgery the next day to have a check up, watching her walk back into the building was one of the proudest things I've seen that old dog do. She was greeted with affection from everybody and by this time everybody had heard the story of Lexi and everyone was truly amazed that she had pulled through what was a horrific surgery. We are now three months on and Lexi is doing better than ever. She is running around with our kids, still thinking she is still a puppy. Lexi would not be here if it wasn't for Richard and the team at Barry Vale Vets. We could never thank you all enough.

I joined this vets 8 year ago, I was happy for a long time as it was all.about your animals. Used to be open 7 days a week until 8, 9pm if need be. Now open Monday to Friday, as long as it's not a Bank Holiday or after 6, then you have to somehow struggle to the other side of Newport and be changed hundreds before you will be seen. Also, if you want a competent vet, Richard appears to be the only one, you can wait weeks. Other vets there have tried to insist I have an x-ray when not required, wanted to give me dog an unnecessary procedure and also couldn't administer eye drops. Last year they charged my husband £300 for kennel cough when not needed. I have just received another bill, not for the first time accusing me of not paying. This has also happened to me daughter. I have 5 dogs who are my world, I want them to have the best, not sure if this is what they are getting. Richard is my only reason for staying, I trust his medical opinion, shame it has become all about the love of his pocket not the animals.
