What you agree to when you use Vet Verified.

These terms apply to the public directory and practice platform at vetverified.com. If anything is unclear, email us and we’ll explain it.

The short version.

Vet Verified provides a public directory and a platform for veterinary practices. By using either service, you agree to these terms.

Pet owners can use the directory free of charge. Practices can apply to claim their listing and complete our verification process. Practices may pay a fee for checks and support, but payment does not guarantee the Verification tick.

We work to keep listings accurate, but Vet Verified is a directory, not a veterinary practice, and cannot provide veterinary advice. If your pet is unwell, contact a vet. In an emergency, contact the nearest open practice or your usual practice’s out-of-hours service.

For pet owners.

These terms apply when you use Vet Verified to find a practice. You do not need an account to use the public directory.

    Using the public directory.

    You can browse the directory, read articles and view practice pages free of charge. You do not need to create an account.

  2. 02

    Keeping listings accurate.

    We use RCVS registers, awarding bodies and information supplied by practices to keep listings accurate. Details can change, so tell us if a practice’s opening hours, address or accreditations look wrong. A verified practice manages the details it is allowed to edit. We base unclaimed listings on public information.

    Vet Verified is a directory, not a vet.

    Vet Verified does not provide veterinary advice. Articles provide general information and are not a substitute for advice from a vet who knows your pet. If your pet is unwell, contact a veterinary practice. In an emergency, call your usual practice’s out-of-hours service or the nearest emergency veterinary service.

    Appointments are arranged with the practice.

    When you contact a practice through Vet Verified, any appointment, fees and treatment are agreed between you and the practice. Vet Verified is not part of that arrangement and does not charge pet owners.

For practices.

These terms apply when a practice applies for verification or manages a verified listing.

  1. 01

    Claiming a listing.

    A practice can apply to claim its listing through the verification process. We ask for proof that the named contact is authorised to act for the practice and for supporting documents, including evidence of its accreditations. Once approved, the practice can use the practice area to manage the details it is allowed to edit.

  2. 02

    Keeping practice details accurate.

    Once a listing is verified, the practice must keep the details it can edit up to date. These include opening hours, photos, its description, species treated, services and facilities. Vet Verified reviews and updates accreditations. We review every practice and check its credentials each year. If an accreditation has lapsed, we email the practice and give it time to renew before changing the public listing.

    Earning and keeping the Verification tick.

    We award the Verification tick only to practices that meet the criteria on our Become Verified page. Paying a fee does not guarantee the tick, and advertising spend does not affect our decision. We may remove the tick after giving the practice notice and an explanation if its credentials lapse, its listing is materially inaccurate or it is no longer trading.

    Content rights.

    A practice continues to own any photos, copy and other content it uploads. By publishing content on Vet Verified, the practice gives us a non-exclusive licence to host and display it while the listing is live and for 30 days after it closes so we can maintain our back-ups. We will ask before using practice content in our marketing.

  5. 05

    Suspension and removal.

    We may suspend a listing or close an account if a practice misrepresents its credentials, tries to gain verification fraudulently, abuses anyone at Vet Verified or another practice, or materially breaches these terms. We will explain why in writing and give the practice a reasonable opportunity to put things right unless legal or safety reasons prevent us from doing so.

Rules for using Vet Verified.

These rules apply whenever you use the directory or practice platform.

Acceptable use.
You must not use Vet Verified to harass anyone, publish content you do not have the right to share, collect directory data at scale or pretend to represent a practice without its authority. You must not use the service to break UK law.
Automated access.
Search engines may index public pages. You must not collect directory data at scale for commercial use without our written permission.
Intellectual property.
Vet Verified owns or licenses the name, Verification tick, website design and editorial content. Practices continue to own the content they upload. Public-register information remains subject to the rights of the organisations that provide it. You must not copy or reuse protected material without permission or another lawful basis.
Third-party content.
Vet Verified links to websites run by practices, awarding bodies and other organisations. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.
Availability and liability.
We take reasonable care to keep Vet Verified available and accurate, but we cannot promise that the directory will always be available, free from errors or completely up to date. Nothing in these terms takes away a pet owner’s rights under consumer law or limits liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. For paid services supplied to a practice, our total liability is limited to the fees that practice paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Claims caused by a practice.
If a practice’s content or material breach of these terms causes a third party to bring a claim against Vet Verified, the practice must cover the reasonable costs we incur as a direct result. We will tell the practice promptly and give it a reasonable opportunity to help decide how the claim is handled. This clause does not apply to pet owners using the public directory.

Governing law and resolving disputes.

The laws of England and Wales apply. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any dispute.

The laws of England and Wales govern these terms. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between us. This does not affect a UK consumer’s right to bring a claim in their local courts where consumer law allows it.

Please email us before starting court proceedings. We will review the issue and try to resolve it promptly.

Changes to these terms and contact details.

When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of this page. We explain material changes in plain English and email practice account holders before they take effect.

Vet Verified is a trading name of Yellow Flag Ltd, the company that runs this directory, registered in England and Wales.
