Unfortunately, despite their good reviews, I regret ever using Dacre House Vets. I would caution others against using them. Unclear prices/lack of transparency: We initially contacted Dacre House Vets and enquired about some minor dental work for our dog. They estimated a price between £200 and £500, but said it would be at the low end of the scale provided no other issues were found. We registered our dog, and paid £50 for the general check up, prior to booking in the work. Only after this were we given a revised quote of £590 - this is for minor dental work which costs £150 at our new vet. Dacre’s vet's time alone was billed at roughly £200, so Dacre would have always known it would cost in excess of £200 once anaesthetic, etc, was included. Despite this they led us to believe the price would be less, leaving us unable to make an informed decision about registering with them. They quoted £64 for other, unrelated work. Despite having the quote in writing they charged in excess of this after the treatment was completed. When challenged on this they said the extra charges were for PPE. Again, this is something Dacre would have known they would use, so it should have been included in the original quote. Inconsistent medical advice: Dacre advised a medical test was necessary before they or another vet would carry out any dental work on our dog. We paid for this, believing this advice to be accurate. Our current vet has confirmed this was not necessary for the dental work to go ahead. Lost documents / poor admin: Our dog is a rescue from overseas. We gave Dacre her passport which contains her medical records shortly after registering with them. We were told they had scanned the information and recorded it. After moving vets due to the lack of transparency around pricing, Dacre did not provide any of the medical records from our dog's passport. Dacre has recently told our kennel that they do not have any medical records prior to our dog registering, this demonstrates that they did not record these. This has caused a significant issue for us. We naively did not keep our dog’s passport as we were led to believe Dacre had recorded this information. We registered with Dacre as we wanted to support an independent vet. It’s disappointing to have had such a poor experience.

An utterly lovely vet. It was my first time with a very sick dog and these guys were super understanding, hugely kind and exceptionally caring, I’m so glad I took the recommendation to use them. I saw a different vet each time which I worried might be an issue but they clearly communicate really well within the clinic as there was no need for me to answer the same questions and everything was entirely geared toward looking after my dog and me. 10/10

So impressed with Dacre House, always so friendly and got my guinea pig in within 10 mins of calling when I was concerned. We saw Bradley and he was so kind and gentle and made a very hard time of losing our pet a little easier, as we really felt he cared. Thank you all so much, feel so lucky to have such fantastic care for our little guys.

I’ve taken my kittens and their mum, Bijou, visiting both practices and have been so impressed with the care and kindness shown every time. The vets are calm, thorough, and genuinely focused on what’s best for the animals, taking time to explain things clearly without any pressure. It’s refreshing to feel that decisions are driven by care rather than profit. I’m now bringing Bijou’s boyfriend, Mr Darcy, and my dogs are lined up for a visit too — which says a lot about the trust I have in them.

Dacre house have been unbelievable will all of my animals. Steph especially, she was thorough with her diagnosis of our cats condition and was there with us right until his passing. She’s also been awesome with my dogs and has made a clear effort to help support us as well as the dogs when they have been unwell. Thank you guys for being so helpful and big thanks to Steph for being and continuing to be amazing!

I had my first dog at dacre for 3 years with no huge problems. It’s when I got a second puppy and requested his 12 week DHPP vaccine without lepto I was treated appallingly. I was told they would not give him this vaccine without lepto , the vet Stephanie Andrew’s pretended this wasn’t an option other vets could offer and acted like I was an idiot rolling her eyes. She was snide and condescending with a superiority complex like I’ve never seen, I actually felt annoyed with myself afterwards that I had tolerated someone treating me with such disrespect and calling me stupid to my face. Needless to say I didn’t cave to her ridicule and moved both my dogs to Culverden vets down the road who offered the vaccine no problem.

A truly lovely vet practice. Always helpful and accommodating when you need assistance or advice. Appointment times are well kept and the pricing structure is clear. I feel that my pets have been ,over the years, and are still being well looked after and cared for in their best interests.
