Mobile Vet Scotland

We originally went for a mobile vet because our cats get very stressed in a carrier and the car. We have had four occasions to use mobile vet Scotland. On all four occasions the mobile surgery was unavailable. The first occasion was when our dog snapped off his claw. Although they came to the house they treated him on the kitchen floor. On the second occasion when our two British short haired cats had to be neutered , they were operated on, on our coffee table. Neither the floor or the coffee table were disinfected first or a surgical sheet had been put down. The third occasion was when our cat needed to supply a urine sample, they tried to take this three times by sticking a needle in to his tummy, when this wasn’t successful , they advised that it didn’t matter. ( the new vet had special litter that allowed this to be collected) so , the cat didn’t need to go through this pain. On the fourth occasion, one of the kittens had developed a dental issue and was urinating outside the litter box, hiding in corners and looked stressed. On contacting mobile vet Scotland, we were advised that the mobile surgery was still out of action. Therefore we would have to take the cat to them for treatment. When we went to collect the cat after surgery, we were advised they had extracted six teeth due to a virus. He was sent home with an oral painkiller. Four weeks later, we had run out of the painkiller and the cat was still in pain and distressed, also still urinating outside the litter box. I contacted them for more painkillers and got no reply for three days. After the second text/whatsapp , I still received no reply for two days. After which I was advised they would need to order it in, and three days later it arrived. This is where I was charged £76! For a single 5ml bottle of Loxicom. When I queried this , I was advised “I wasn’t sure whether you had one bottle or two, so I charged for two”. After discussing the issue with Robert regarding the cat still being in pain and urinating outside the box, I was told “it’s a virus, there is no cure and the urinating is behavioural” and we would just have to live with it and it will be a lifetime commitment. There was another occasion where the communication and attention to detail was sadly lacking. When we were going on holiday, we took the dog to the kennels and they refused to admit him due to the fact that his documentation had not been updated to show that he had , had his kennel cough vaccination. This caused undue stress all around which is the last thing you need when going on holiday. It was after this we decided enough was enough and changed our vet. The new vet “Westport”, saw the cat the next day and after a full examination and X-Rays they found the issue. One of the extracted teeth in his mouth had been snapped off and the root left in the jaw bone, which was now infected and a second tooth next to an extracted tooth was fractured and the nerve was exposed. A further surgery along with a post op x-ray and full scale and polish sorted the issue. We now have a very happy cat, urinating in his litter box and pain free. Thank goodnesses for Westport vets, otherwise we would never have got this resolved. If you truly care for your animal, then I strongly advise you go elsewhere to get your fur baby the best care.
