Our dog Fin is going through chemo over 20 week period and so far about 7 weeks in. Staff have been lovely and very professional so far. However this week there has been a sudden change to his treatment plan so we have been asked to come in again 2 days later which we did. The vets had to do a few tests on him, and normally they give an approximate timeframe but today we were told they’re not sure how long it would take. After an hour the vet told us they’re waiting for results and it should take 10-15 mins. 1 hour 45 mins later and we’re still waiting for a total of 3 hours. We appreciate the work being carried out but the timekeeping and updates for the customers are not good enough. Time is being taken out of our day and I had to rush off to work whilst my partner waits. We expect more regular updates when we’re paying such an expense for something so important.

We have many bad experiences with them, I just going to mention a couple. They gave some oily liquid as to help our dying dog's appetite. She was foaming heavily from the mouth thanks to it and suffered because of it. Could you swallow a spoon of sunflower oil? While not long ago at our normal vet, we got tiny tablets for our other dog and it worked like magic. Why royal dick alway gives medicine that does not fit to give to a really sick dog when there is better solution? Then they put a feeding tube in but they didn't secure properly and came out a couple of hours later, they only check on the animals in every 4 hours and they didn't notice it right away and so it got infacted.

I recently brought my dog here for radiotherapy following a referral by a vet in Wakefield after an MRI revealed a suspected brain meningioma. While it is too soon to tell how affective my dogs treatment will be, he is doing well so far and I want to give credit to the staff here. Every step of my dogs treatment was explained in detail both verbally and in writing. My dog had 5 treatments with an initial CT scan to make it 6 visits in total over a period of 9 days. I was updated over the phone on my dogs progress and picked him up at the end of most days and returned him in the morning. He did stay over a few nights. While all of the staff were wonderful I want to give a special mention to both Silva my dogs vet and Alex my dogs nurse. They were not only knowledgeable but also kind and compassionate toward both me and my dog, they showed a level of care that extended beyond expectations. I felt like I was leaving him in safe hands every time he went there. The cost of the treatment in total was £8000, while I can think of nothing more I'd rather spend it on than a loved ones health I hope one day the cost of animal treatment is better regulated. I appreciate the prices are not set by anyone I dealt with and are largely the same across the country, however I do feel it is important to mention to anyone considering similar treatment. I would recommend this vet to anyone, with it's advanced treatments and staff it is an asset to the UK.

My dog was admitted for emergency removal of piece of bone lodged in his asophugus. Thought we had lost him but they were amazing and he is doing really well thanks to their expertise. Medical staff and receptionists absolutely brilliant. Can thank them enough.

Want to say a massive thank you to all the team. They worked through the night to save my dogs life. 12 months later he's back to his old self again. Thank you!

I was so impressed with our visit to the Hospital for Small Animals. My precious Lhasa Apso, Tashi Teddybear, needs to see a Veterinary Oncology Specialist, and there is no better place to come to in the UK. The whole facility is completely Accessible, disabled parking is free, with spaces available right by the Reception entrance. That's so important to anyone who is disabled, as I am, and may have had quite a journey to get there. There is no limit on parking time, which can be really important if you need several appointments and treatments, in one visit. All the Staff I saw were amazing! From being greeted in the spacious Reception area, Teddybear and I were made so welcome. Reception Staff were so caring, helpful, and professional. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was dealt with quickly and with a very high standard of friendly care. Fears and nerves were understood, and I was shown so such compassionate care - it was a very stressful visit (Teddybear has cancer) but the Staff are clearly animal lovers who understood that an owner may well be a little overwhelmed by everything, and their one-to-one care was amazing. There is lots of open, light space with plenty of seating, available in Reception. There's a vending machine for hot drinks and several toilets - very handy if you've had a long journey, or have to spend several hours there. Lots of helpful information about specialist pet care products and services is on hand. There are useful stands stocked with Hills dietary and healthcare items, and other pet products - such as packs of those handy treats to smuggle medication in, for fussy pets who don't willingly take tablets and capsules! The atmosphere was relaxed, welcoming, and friendly. All the Veterinary Staff we saw were simply amazing! Teddybear was given the highest quality of care and such a warm welcome. The two Student Vets couldn't have been more interested in him or more understanding. I was very nervous about the appointments and naturally fearful about what the future could hold, but nothing was too much trouble. The consultations were unhurried, I was encouraged to ask as many questions as I needed to, and their real interest in Teddybear's wellbeing was genuine and warm. He was extremely relaxed and very happy with all the attention he received! The Consultant Oncologist was simply wonderful. She genuinely wanted to do everything possible for Teddybear, which means the whole world to me. Her professional expertise and her knowledge of his (rare) cancer, as well as the treatment pathways available, was second to none. Her genuine interest in Teddybear and her understanding that I was worried and upset was so compassionate. I was encouraged to ask questions, and everything was explained patiently. I was able to have time to take notes and discuss his care and plans to help him. There couldn't have been anything more I may have wished for. Teddybear had to stay for further investigation work, but I was able to wait on site until everything was done for him that was needed. I was kept fully informed and able to simply be there until the last part of his visit before we could finally go home. If, like us, you do need to spend several hours at the Hospital, there's a lovely cafe on the Campus, too. Unfortunately, it's not pet-friendly, but there are beautiful outdoor spaces to get some fresh air and take any other four-legged family who may have also made the journey with you, for a walk. Teddybear has to go back again for further help, but thankfully, now we know what to expect. It won't be quite such a difficult experience, next time. The fear of the unknown has been taken away completely. Despite the whole process of needing to visit being very stressful and worrying, everyone was so caring and so helpful, and that really helped us so much. I am so thankful that this wonderful resource is available, and the amazing Staff are so caring, as well as highly professional people. Thank you with all my heart, and Teddybear says thank you too, for all your help and care.

Not a great deal to say. No 1 university for vetinary medicine in the UK and No 6 in the world. Facilities are second to none and place is immaculate. Staff are friendly, informal and very eager to help. Has some fantastic grounds surrounding as well.
