After a very poor experience with our 10 month old kitten we have registered with another vet. She suffered a trauma last weekend which left her very distressed, anxious and with a slight limp in her right leg. We tried to book her in for a consultation on the BH Monday as we were very worried how withdrawn she was and hardly eating/drinking. Whilst it wasn’t catastrophic we were warned that peace of mind for her and to get her checked over and most importantly, comfortable and on the road to recovery. We were quoted £380! We decided to take her the following day. Vet was unable to fully diagnose because our kitten was too “distressed!” Was obvious she was uncomfortable and needed help. We expected her to be given pain relief there and then and just felt fobbed off. Given pain relief/sedative followed by another consultation 3 days later. She has recovered by herself with plenty of rest & tlc without the need for a second visit. Seeing how other pet owners are treated on this and previous occasions, it all comes across that profit comes before pets. Very disappointing and sad to see.

I took my cat to Abivale vet around a week ago. I was worried for his breathing and wanted to help him. They misdiagnosed him and kept him there for 12 hours without treatment that actually would benefit him. After those 12 hours they said we could pick him up. The vet just handed him to me claiming he could die tonight without telling us what we could do, what was wrong with him and how to help him. I took him home and did my own research, it was through this research that I (a 19 year old unprofessional) figured out what was wrong with him and how I could help him. So I went back. When I came back they refused to help him because we had a "falling out and trust was not there" even though he was slowly DYING from suffocation and they knew that. This place cares more about money and reviews than actually helping animals. After around 1-2 hours of back and forth not knowing if they would help my 7 month old kitten they transferred us to Medivet Woodstock. They had him healthy and at no risk of dying in 30 minutes. This place has no love for animals, no love for their patients and it is only about money.

I mainly use Abivale for out of hours emergency as it’s not the closest to me but they are great. Been there a number of times and staff are very friendly and helpful. I’ve also called at 1am worried about my cat and spoke to them for 20 minutes and they gave honest advice and helped without recommending that I need to come in. Just great service!

I raised concerns about Abivale, and unfortunately, the response has been deeply disappointing. Abivale has shown no remorse or genuine apology. My pet and I endured a distressing and negligent experience at their Abingdon branch. The level of incompetence, unprofessional behaviour at reception, and substandard veterinary care were alarming. Most shockingly, my pet was mis weighed by 40%—a mistake the management dismissed as normal. I am both appalled and frightened. During one of the most difficult periods of my life, this clinic only heightened my anxiety. Their lack of empathy and unacceptable standards make it a place I cannot recommend. Please avoid. Look at reviews carefully and also visit their Facebook page - the picture there is realistic. Also check out the story of Mr Lord Pumpkin the Pomeranian who was killed during sedation in the clinic ...

This visit was my first for some years. I previously used this veterinary practice to care for my working dogs for many years. It was good then and is just as good now.. The reception and consulting rooms are spacious, which makes it easy to handle your animal, in my case, a large dog. Reception staff and clinicians were friendly and efficient. Came a cross as professional as you could find at any good hotel reception desk. 👍

Quick appointment times for urgent care and putting comfort of pets first. Other vets in area give at least two week waiting period. Staff knowledgeable and on the ball. Thank you!
