Welcome to the Academy Veterinary Centre, a top-notch veterinary practice based in the picturesque town of Stranraer, in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Our practice offers state-of-the-art facilities and an extensive range of services for numerous species, including aquatics, birds, camelids, cats, cattle, deer, dogs, equines, exotics, wild animals, pigs, poultry, sheep, goats, and small mammals. We take pride in our ability to accommodate the specific needs of each unique creature, all while ensuring the utmost comfort and well-being for both animals and their owners alike.

The Academy Veterinary Centre is led by four experienced Directors: Mr Alisdair Gaw, Mr Alistair McClelland, Mr Ian McDonald, and Mr Stephen Raphael, who collectively possess impressive qualifications such as BVMS MRCVS, BVM&S CertAVP (Cattle) MRCVS, and more. Alongside them is a talented team of veterinary surgeons, including Miss Grace Armstrong, who support the Directors in delivering top-quality care to our diverse clientele.

Our dedicated team of veterinary nurses is spearheaded by Head Nurse Mrs Karen Reid, joined by Miss Carolyn Fisher and Miss Eoina McCaig. All of them hold the esteemed RVN qualification, reflecting their exemplary commitment to providing exceptional care to our cherished animal friends.

Our practice is open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, as well as on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We understand that sometimes emergencies happen outside of our regular hours, so we strive to be available at weekends. On Sundays, our practice is closed, allowing our hardworking team to rest and recharge for the week ahead.

To ensure ease of access for all, our practice offers disabled public access. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience our warm, friendly environment and receive top-notch veterinary care for their beloved animals.
