McTaggarts vets is one of the very few remaining independent vets in the area, and I’ve recommended them to clients often over the years. Shona McTaggart is highly dedicated, caring and diligent. She’s also my go-to whenever I’ve wanted advice or a second opinion about a case. I had a particularly tricky patient staying with me for in-patient care during covid times, whose own primary vet was quite far away, who needed repeat radiographs. Shona was incredibly helpful in liaising with the referring vet and my client and gave me an appointment when she was really busy with her own patients and in no position to be taking on extra work. She goes above and beyond to help. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough.

A super practice that always makes us feel welcome. Great vets that you can really trust looking after your animals. We have all 5 of our dogs registered here and they always get the best treatment from the team.

Cannot recommend Shona and her team at McTaggarts enough ! My Hugo has been attending this practice for years and I have every confidence in knowing that he is treated extremely well. As a client I have complete trust in their professionalism and can see that they have our pets best interests at heart . Shona goes above and beyond and I have personally experienced this when Hugo took a seizure and not only did she swiftly help him, she helped to calm , reassure and educate me in what to do should another seizure occur . Her work is her life , her dedication to helping animals will be her legacy . Thankyou Shona and Team McTaggarts .

I wouldn't go anywhere else with my dogs. Shona and her team are absolutely fantastic! With our old cocker spaniel who was diagnosed with diabetes and then cancerous tumours the team were on top of all his needs and would see him at the drop of a hat if he wasn't doing so well. Right until his last day he had the best treatment from the team. Then onto our new girl Zula who ate something she shouldn't just the other day, a phone call to the practice and she was seen within the hour and treated and all was well, thankfully! I work with dogs and often get asked which vet would I recommend and without a doubt, 100% I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you team McTaggart

An Independent Practice where they go above and beyond with their care for your pets. I have been registered with them for over 40 years and have always felt in safe hands. From the great welcome at reception through to the Vets taking time to explain any procedures needed with all the available options. My dogs have rushed through the door to see them 😁

This independent veterinary practice is an absolute gem. From the moment we registered the team made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for — not just our crazy dog, but us as owners too. The vets are exceptionally knowledgeable, thorough, and patient, explaining everything clearly without ever rushing. The nurses are kind and gentle. This practice feels personal in the best way: spotlessly clean, modern equipment, reasonable pricing, and zero hard-sell. All the staff genuinely seem to love what they do and it shows in every interaction. We’ve love “our” vet and cannot recommend them highly enough — they have given our furry boy the best care when he has needed it.

Best vets in Ayrshire, used this practice for over 30 years and a lot has changed but level of service is great and they actually care about the animals over the £££ which you don’t get in many other vets now. Keep up the good work

Absolutely amazing care from McTaggart Vets! My bunny Theo has been looked after so well — from treatment for stasis earlier this year to being neutered just yesterday. Anna was fantastic, calling me beforehand to talk everything through and answer any questions, which really put my mind at ease. After surgery, Theo started licking his stitches and they told me to bring him in right away — they checked him over and gave extra medication to help his recovery. I'm especially thankful to Anna for her kindness, patience, and genuine care… it really meant the world to me. You can tell she truly loves what she does and Theo couldn’t have been in better hands. The whole team are amazing — I’m so grateful! 🐰🩵

Recently moved to this vet practice and the amount of care and time the vets put into the animals and their clients is outstanding. Our older cat Niko was diagnosed with kidney issues and was quite unwell, he's doing better thanks to the treatment and advice from McTaggarts. Also brought my new kitten in and she was treated just as well, it's so nice to see how much the team genuinely love all the animals that come in the practice. Big thanks to Jen and Julia, amazing vets! From the Lowe family 😻
