I honestly couldn’t express how much all the staff have been so helpful and consistent with the care of my cat, Eli. Eli went in a couple of days ago due to being unwell which was quickly discovered to be an Intussusception. Eli was rushed into theatre and was told he was in a really bad way and to prepare for the worst. The next day he was back fighting fit, completely like a new cat. I was updated regular and Eli is now home recovering. Eli has had phenomenal care whilst being there and he has made many friends! Thank you to everyone who was apart of Eli’s care.

I find the reception staff rude and patronising and dismissive at every visit. Lots of money spent with them there unavoidably. Can't wait to transfer my cats care.

Wonderful caring staff, looked after are precious dog womble with kindness through his illness and sadly at the end.what a difference between private vet and corporate vet close to where i live in mytholmroyd.I was always confident hirds was doing what was best for womble and not what was best to hit their targets regardless of whether it was the best for my dog.Every vet, nurse and reception staff are caring and compassionate and are in the job to do the best for the animals. No hesitation in recommending hirds vets if you want the best care for your pet and a private ownership, not large converabelt corporate ownership.Thankyou to all the staff for looking after womble especially Mike with the lovely liver pate and eve who spent time explaining everything with time and patience. My dog has been registered with Hirds since I adopted him from the RSPCA 8 years ago. Although more expensive than some more local vets, I trusted this was due to the firm being well established and presumably, good at what they do. However, early September I rushed my boy in due to concerns about blood coming from his "private area". I provided a urine sample for him, followed up with blood tests and a scan/ultrasound- all of which were chargeable to both myself and the insurance company. I was assured that my boy had "a sludge" in n his stomach/bladder that was, and I quote "nothing to worry about" and prescribed antibiotics. As the blood continued to leak from his "private area" I sought a 2nd opinion from a local vet who diagnosed him with an inoperable bladder tumour within 4 hours. The lack of knowledge and urgency from Hirds in dealing with this problem astounds me. Furthermore, the lack of empathy and compassion when I have raised my concerns is additional cause for concern. I will now escalate my concerns to the Royal Veterinary College to ensure those responsible for my dog's impending premature death will be held accountable for their actions . Or lack of

Helpful, knowledgeable and expert in their field. All staff - vets, nurses and support staff are very approachable. I have total confidence in Hirds for the year on year care and treatment of our two dogs. They respond quickly to emergencies and will always advise over the phone. It's an independent practice too! Highly recommended.

I see the veterinary nurse, Siobhan, every 3 weeks now to have Lilly weighed and measured. She's on a diet using food the vet nurse suggested and it's working very well. It's a free service which I think is great because you get very little free these days. The reception area and consultation rooms are always clean. The reception staff are friendly and efficient. The vet who did my cat's vaccinations was really friendly and lovely with my cat. All in all, I really like this veterinary practice.
