First off let me ask you all a question ; Why do you register with a vet ? I’m assuming your answer will be the same as mine in that you want your pet to receive the best possible care to ensure their well-being is attended to in a timely manner and if sadly that fails and your pet becomes seriously unwell you’d hope that there will be appropriate support available to ensure your pets well being is tended to quickly, ensuring your pet is not distressed . Well sadly Curzon Street vets has failed my dog in both of these areas in my opinion. The reason they failed is, in my opinion, because they are rushing all the time. The receptionists rush you on the phone and can’t wait to get you off the line. The vet, well one of them more than the other, rush you through your appointment ( to be fair our appointment had been logged in the diary incorrectly and was entered for a date in a weeks time and not on the day/ date we had been verbally told on the phone. Therefore we were squeezed in between two other appointments . This proved almost fatal for my dog as I was initially told there was nothing wrong with my her but I insisted there was as she was acting out of character. Possibly and I felt begrudgingly and definitely rushed the vet listened to my dogs heart and informed us that there was a low grade heart murmur present but it wasn’t so advanced as we had anything to worry about . Long story short two days later ( week-end ) our dog became seriously ill and was struggling to breathe. Her life was saved by the emergency out of hours team in Derby on that occasion. We should have left Curzon Street there and then but we gave them the benefit of the dought. Sadly since then our dog continues to have health problems but twice now Iv phoned first thing in the morning for an appointment only to be told on both occasions that they are unable to see my dog, who was obviously in a lot of pain until six to seven hours later later that day. Cruelty beyond belief in my eyes. I thought they would be showing more compassion. Therefore I took my dog elsewhere to get the pain relief ASAP. After seeing a different vet practice this week in the same emergency situation I was told there are preventative measures I could be put into place to try to avoid the crises and painful experiences my dog finds herself in regularly. Sad to say the vet at Curzon St has never discussed prevention being a possible answer to our problems rather than waiting for the crisis . I would also like to say that over the five years of being a customer at Curzon St the reception and nursing staffs attitudes have declined. Iv personally experienced sarcasm and whispering between themselves which is not professional. I would be only too happy for a member of staff at Curzon St vets to contact me to discuss this review. However if you do please don’t rush the conversation as seems normal for you to do these days , it makes for a very uncaring environment that no animals owner wants to be party too. Thanks for your service over the past five years but I’m pleased to think we won’t be returning .

My 1st visit with Astrid (her 2nd). All the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Already booked in for our next visit. I think I was more nervous than Astrid. She was super chilled out. Thanks to everyone involved.
