I first came to this vets 13 years ago for a second opinion for my 11 year old black lab, in spite of hearing the devastating news our dog has so sick, he had to be put to sleep, the staff were amazing and I never forgot how supportive they were, even though we weren't regulars with them. Fast forward 2 years and we were able to find room in our hearts for another dog, and I didn't need to think twice about who his vet would be, blue, loves the vets ! Yep he loves it, he bounds in the door like a tornado, and stands up at the reception, looking for a treat. When we had a very serious issue with his eyes, they were amazing and went way beyond what was expected, and again after blues face had been ripped open by another dog and had to have emergency surgery. Honestly, this is the best vets by far, from the staff, to the treatment and they are one of the more reasonable priced vets too. I would never take my dog to any other vets.

We have just come out the other side of an incredibly stressful and difficult month of our beloved cat Malachi having a chin abscess, which became necrotic and broke down and then needed to heal by secondary intention over 4 weeks. We have throughout this process felt so lucky and grateful to be with Animals 1st. So many members of the team, including to name just a few who's names I actually remember: Lauren, Amie, Morven & Louise - have been so kind, caring and supportive. Special mention and thank you beyond words must go to Lewis Steer, who has looked after Malachi from his second visit right through to discharge yesterday. He has gone above and beyond for our boy at each stage. He was open and honest with us throughout about our options and next steps and fitted us in anytime we needed seen. We cannot thank you all enough. With love and thanks from us all. Highly recommend Animals 1st for anyone living in East Lothian with pets. We hope to not be back soon, but know we are in such safe and caring hands next time we need vet care.
