The staff were very helpful when we called them with an emergency issue with our cat. Everyone was professional and reassuring which was a great source of reassurance to us. The vet we saw was informative and their manner helpful and friendly which put us and our fur baby at ease. We wouldnt use another veterinary practice. Although cost is not a factor in such a situation they were reasonably priced for the consultation, treatment and after care they gave we felt.

This was not my first visit to Animates. They provided excellent care, for 15 years, for my Jack Russell who died in 2021. First visit for a check up for my rescue Dachshund. Snoopy was very good. The receptionist was extremely helpful at check in. Jessica, the Vet was brilliant with Snoops who was as good as gold allowing her to give him a thorough examination. Had a long chat on several Snoopy related matters. All my questions were answered. There was no pressure to leave, a good experience for me and a great experience for Snoopy.

We've been with Animates Veterinary Clinic since 2008. All the Vets, Nurses & staff are always professional, helpful, friendly & caring. We are very grateful for the best care & treatment our dogs have received and continue to do so. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Excellent practice all the receptionists, Nurses and Vets are very friendly and professional. The Vet was very caring and explained in full the need for further investigations. The price was given prior to deciding so no hidden extras. Thank you to all the staff. Would strongly recommend Animates.

The nurse was very kind and caring. Beth is elderly and extremely nervous and the nurse gave her treats to calm her down. Animates have been wonderful in treating her over the last year. They go above and beyond. Thank you to everyone

I want to say a huge thank you to the team at Animates Thurlby! I called today with an emergency after my clever dog, Harry, ate something he definitely shouldn’t have. They saw him within the hour, and he’s now back home looking content (if a little sorry for himself!). A special shout-out to Rochelle, who was incredibly kind, reassuring, and never once made me feel like a bad dog mum. Thank you so much for your care and compassion! 🐶

From what I've just read about this vet I would think twice about registering with them they don't seem to care very much... Here is a copy of what iv just read.... I wanted to share an experience I had today with Animates vets in Thurlby. I was on a walk in the local area from Bourne, and my dog injured her foot quite badly — it was bleeding heavily — so I took her straight to Animates for help. Unfortunately, they refused to see her because I wasn’t registered with their practice. I completely understand that practices have policies, but this was an urgent situation and my dog was in visible distress, to which the receptionist also agreed. I asked at the very least if I could have a bandage to stop the bleeding myself and to reduce the risk of infection having to walk back from Thurlby to Bourne. I would have of course paid for my dog to be seen and to purchase a bandage, however was flat out refused for anything. I was asked what vets I was registered with, which is the priory in Bourne, and they even acknowledged that they weren’t open, and were still happy to turn my injured dog away, knowing I didn’t have another option of care for her. I’m sharing this because I believe no animal in distress should be turned away when they urgently need care, regardless of registration status. I hope Animates rethink their policies so that no one else has to experience this in a moment of panic and fear for their pet. Also, a reminder of how important it is for veterinary practices to have some flexibility when an animal needs immediate care. I wanted to give a huge shout out of appreciation & thanks to Daisie & Scarlett at Petorama Petshop Bourne. I took Indie in asking for help to stop the bleeding, and without hesitation they stepped in, gently cleaned her foot, bandaged it, and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. Their compassion and willingness to help made such a difference in a really stressful moment. It’s reassuring to know there are still local businesses who genuinely care about animals welfare.

The people working today (08/11/2025) your lack of empathy towards a dog in pain and an owner in distress who came to you as a last resort is deeply concerning. The poor dog was bleeding and you were the only vets they were near. There are policies and then there are basic human kindness and understanding. Would you not agree that an animal’s welfare is the priority in an emergency even if they aren’t registered with your practise? Was it really worth it with the impression you’ve given to every pet owner in this area now? If you’re reading this then choose wisely which vet practises you give your money to, they might not have animals best interests at the forefront of their values
