Been taking my dog there since he was a puppy ( he's 10 now). Never had any issues and staff are always helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They have looked after my dog well and I would highly recommend them.

Receptionists are nice, but the surgery just isn’t big enough for large breeds. Over crowded waiting areas, small corridors and consultation rooms not suitable for a giant breed. I appreciate vets are very busy but the service was very rushed and my dog wasn’t put at ease at all, leading to a difficult trip - therefore resulting in a fear in the vets and making later trips more difficult. Will be looking for a better suited vets going forward.

I never had any problems with this clinic before — the staff were always kind and gave treats to my cat during vaccinations. However, when my cat Karim became ill, he was incorrectly diagnosed with stage 4 chronic kidney disease. The vets told me it would be better to consider euthanasia and did not offer any treatment. They said he would likely live only a few days or a couple of weeks. Later, a friend suggested that based on Karim’s symptoms, it was more likely an acute kidney injury or a flare-up of stage 2–3 kidney disease. We took Karim to another clinic, where he received proper treatment — and it saved his life. That was two months ago. Karim is now diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease. His creatinine level is currently 189 (blood test was made today), his heart is fine, and his blood pressure, phosphorus, and potassium levels are all normal. He is active, gaining weight, and doing well. Cats at this stage of the disease can live for several more years. If we had followed the initial advice, Karim might not be alive today, as he could have died from dehydration during the acute episode. I don’t know what to think about this situation, but we have since transferred our cats to another clinic.

We have used Hallam vets for over twenty years now, and have never had a negative. When our animals have passed they have been so kind and so gracious. They have always been so understanding, so kind yet professional, and so gentle with our gorgeous dogs and cats. I absolutely and whole heartedly recommend all at Hallam Vets. We are blessed to have them as our safety net for our furry tribe.

I've been a loyal customer of Hallam Veterinary Centre Holme Lane for over 15 year's, my gorgeous Jack Russell was diagnosed with heart issues in 2019 and I was advised he needed medication to control the problem which of course I agreed, the medication cost almost a £100.00 a month, the money wasn't a issue at this time and for the next 8 years I had to take Max for a check up every 3 months which again were almost a £100.00 per check up on top of the medication, bearing in mind if I didn't go for the check ups his medication which according to the vet was keeping him alive would be stopped. Sunday the 25th of January 2026 Max took a turn for the worse I rang Hallam Veterinary Centre as I thought they had Max's health and wellbeing a priority and every other pets in their care, I was put through to an emergency vet I explained the situation Max was very poorly and I wanted a home vist, the vet said that they could arrange a home visit they checked how far from the practice to my house and said approx 20 minutes travel time, I said that is really good then came the bombshell it would be £1100.00 yes ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED POUNDS and I'd have to pay for a taxi for the vet to get to and from my home address, I thought an emergency vet would have had their own transport but how can that be legal to charge that kind of money they are taking advantage of people like myself with a very poorly pet I feel they let Max down in his hour of need, unfortunately Max did pass away on Sunday the 25th I'm heartbroken for Max he didn't deserve this attitude from vets putting money before the welfare of a pet.

I had a wellNess check yesterday and the nurses were very kind. I tried to fight the sleepy tablet mum gave me but the nurses were patient and managed to do their tests. Mum said the price was very reasonable so I got extra treats when I got home.

Lovely practice , efficient, caring and professional. Not been in with my own pets yet but have taken injured wildlife here and the Head Vet, although very busy, came into reception where I was waiting and gave me a detailed update on an injured wild hedgehog I brought to them and whilst they don't get paid to treat wild life I sensed that Hallam Vets showed me and the poor hedgehog the same level of care and respect as they would for a paying customer...

My dog went in for neutering. He is 40Kg and was extremely anxious. It took 3 nurses, my daughter and me to hold him and tranquillise him. The staff were brilliant. No huffs or puffs about being called away from other work. I was called as soon as the surgery was over to let me know he was coming round. Very attentive.

I cannot recommend Hallam Vets enough! My rescue whippet, Rupert, has been attending for over 5 years now, and the care and attention he’s received has been consistently outstanding. From general check-ups to dental care, an eye ulcer, a wrist sprain, and his regular flea, worming, and annual injections, they have always gone above and beyond for him. The reception staff are always so welcoming, and the clinic is spotless and well-organised, which immediately puts you at ease. The vets—Sarah, George, Lee, and others—are all so kind and attentive, even though Rupert is incredibly anxious and hates the vets! Special mention to Lee, who is brilliant at adapting to Rupert’s needs by occasionally doing his check-ups on the floor rather than the table which eases his anxiety, keeping him as calm as possible. Katie, one of the support staff, also deserves recognition—she is super lovely, informative, and always so helpful. Her warmth and dedication to her role is evident. There was one occasion when Rupert needed an urgent appointment, and I was amazed that they were able to book him in and see him within just 25 minutes of my call—such incredible service!, I was also tearful at the time as it’s awful to see your animal distressed and in pain and the receptionist was so lovely to me! and reassured me they’d get him sorted and seen asap. The vets are always informative, transparent about pricing, and clearly have a great ethical code, never pushing any sales or things the animal doesn’t need. They also introduced me to a gel for gums for Rupert’s anxiety during fireworks season, which has been a real game-changer for us, even though it’s a bit pricey - it’s worth it! I honestly can’t express enough how much I trust and appreciate Hallam Vets. Their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to their patients’ well-being make them exceptional. I would trust them with my fur baby 100%! - and In fact he is booked in this week for Dental under general anaesthetic and I have compete faith and trust they will care for my little whippet beautifully and he will be just fine! Thank you for your service Hallam Vets!
