My first visit to this vets since moving at the start of the year and I'm so impressed. Larissa was wonderul with my dog who needed injections to stop sickness. I was given a very last minute appointment which I assumed might have been rushed but I was given so much more information and reassurance within the time we had. Thank you also to Daisy on reception!

We have been with Its the Vets for many years now and we can honestly say that our dogs (a 14 year old retriever and a 11 year old GMD) wouldn't be with us now if it wasnt for Larissa and her amazing team. The friendly, informative service we receive from them every time really makes all the difference. Our boys love visiting here, even after both have been through life saving operations, their tails still wag every time. Thankyou so much to you all - we are lucky to have you in Plympton

2 stars go to the staff who have always been very friendly and helpful. Its such a shame that the owner, Larissa, is not. We had a very upsetting experience, I felt personally attacked by her after I asked questions about a very expensive treatment plan suggested for our 9 year old dog, which involved a general anaesthetic to flush his ears out. Trying to balance the financial cost with making the right choices for your pet is becoming increasingly difficult with the rising cost of living, so I did not feel it was inappropriate to ask for more information, to be sure we were making the right choice for us as a family and for our dog. However, the owner of the practice launched into a full blown attack at me, shouting at me and making me feel stupid and terrible for asking. She even said, and I quote “It’s not my fault you bought a dog with allergies”. She explained there was another option, but only if I was happy to live with the risk of my dog going deaf (we think he probably is anyway, due to chronic ear infections), or even dying!! I was made to feel like I didn’t have a choice, she was very angry with me, I have never experienced anything like it in my life! This was totally unprofessional and having read some other reviews, it seems this is not the first time she has done this to customers. I would definitely NOT recommend this practice if you are seeing Larissa, but 10/10 praise for the reception staff who were always lovely!

Such an incredible vets, wasn’t registered with them and they got my cat seen too within an hour of calling and this was an evening appointment also. I was so worried about my cat and felt really anxious to take her but the vet and vet nurse did such an amazing job at making me and my cat feel extremely calm. I couldn’t thank everyone enough for their help, for something I felt so worried about they made it a great and calm experience.

Would absolutely urge with my whole heart to everyone to avoid this vet surgery. We had our precious boy go in for tests and scans as he had fallen ill very acutely , only to be told on the same day he was to be put to sleep. This was told to us with no evidence of the scans or the tests and the whole procedure felt very rushed. We were absolutely disgusted with the way this vets handled our poor boy as during when we said our final movements we were interrupted by a staff member with a card machine to ask us to pay for our boys cremation and sleep injection. This felt highly insensitive and could’ve been managed very differently , it felt like the surgery had a huge lack of empathy for how grief stricken me and my family were. Not only this, we were put in a small room to say goodbye to our boy which allowed us to hear staff members outside laughing away and whilst we were sat in this room with our boy for almost an hour waiting for the staff to procede with what needed to be done. We felt that in a situation like this where it is such a vulnerable and upsetting time, a more private and comforting room should’ve been provided. The procedure felt very rushed from the moment we took our dog in for tests to him being put to sleep and as a family we didn’t feel like the surgery gave us much time to process what was going on or what options we could’ve had with regards to how our boy’s ashes would return to us. On top of this the surgery did not return his belongings to us the whole time we were waiting for his ashes to come home to us which took a couple of weeks, and there was no communication of where his things were or when we would receive them. This was heartbreaking as all we wanted was to have every piece of him back with us. The whole situation was made worse when me and my family returned the next day to ask for evidence of the tests and scans to which we were showed scans dated back from 2000 that also was not named with our dog’s name - we were under the impression that this could’ve been any old scan from another dog as there was no proof it belonging to our boy. During this time we were rudely interrupted by the receptionist who stated there were other customers outside that had appointments and were waiting, implying that our visit was a big inconvenience for the surgery despite us feeling completely overwhelmed with grief and not fully knowing why we felt pushed into getting our precious boy put to sleep. This whole situation felt to us like the surgery had no empathy or compassion for our family or our beautiful boy and I would urge everyone to avoid this surgery at all cost so that you do not have to experience the disgust that we felt towards them in such a vulnerable and heartbreaking time.
