Disgraceful service, incompetent, hidden charges and exploitative.
This practice has demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, transparency, and basic care for both animals and owners.
We visited the Nuneaton branch on 7th March with our cat, Zarco, who was losing weight and had fluctuating appetite. The vet advised a de‑worming tablet and, if unsuccessful, a blood test. The blood test was clearly quoted at £290.
When the de‑wormer failed, the blood test was brought forward to 25th March. After the bloods were taken, reception demanded £343, adding a completely undisclosed £53 “consultation fee.”
I never booked a consultation, never requested one, and was never told this would be charged. When I challenged this, I was told: “Well it’s done now so you have to pay it.” I was then informed, in front of other customers and with my sick cat present, that if I didn’t pay, the blood test would not be carried out. This was nothing short of coercive. I paid under pressure to avoid further delay in my cat’s care.
We were told blood results would be available the same day or the next morning. They weren’t. When we finally received a call the following afternoon, the vet admitted they didn’t realise Zarco was being sick—despite this being clearly communicated on multiple occasions. This level of incompetence is deeply concerning.
We were then required to return yet again for an anti‑sickness injection. I was told it would be £17, only to later be told there was an additional £23 admin fee. Constant drip‑pricing, zero transparency, and no effort to be upfront.
9am 30th March, we asked to proceed with the ultrasound scan. 1st April nearly mid day, nothing had progressed because the insurance pre‑authorisation hadn’t even been submitted, crutial time wasted and potentially booking slots missed. We were later told the soonest scan date was 15th April, leaving our sick cat waiting weeks due to their delays. The estimate also included £240 for 30 minutes of “nurse assistance”, which feels grossly excessive and money grabbing.
Update: After escalating the issue to head office, the local practice emailed saying they would “look into it” and instructed us to reference a complaint number—none was provided. On 1st April, they contacted my wife offering either the 15th April scan or a referral to a veterinary hospital, yet provided no cost estimates, no dates, no explanation of requirements, and still no insurance confirmation. Utterly useless communication, once again.
This practice has shown shocking attention to detail, poor record‑keeping, and an apparent willingness to charge for services that were never agreed. I firmly believe the £53 should be refunded.
Despite repeatedly requesting to speak with the Practice Manager, I was promised a phone call on 27th or 30th March. No one called. When I chased this, I was told phone calls cannot be guaranteed and that I should email instead—directly contradicting their website, which states customers can phone the practice and that feedback is welcomed. It’s clear that avoiding complaints is standard procedure here.
I would strongly urge anyone considering this practice to think very carefully. This experience has been stressful, upsetting, and completely unacceptable. I will not be returning after this diagnosis is over, and I would not trust this practice with the health of any pet.

The team at this clinic have been really helpful whenever I have taken my Labrador there. He needed a consult due to some issues with his ears and were open and honest about everything he needed for the best course of action for his treatment. They explained the issue in detail which helped me understand more. They even managed to squeeze him in for a nail clip while we were there!

I've been here for 5 years with both of my cats and the vets have been wonderful every single time. Reception staff are great and informative though in the last year it has been ridiculously difficult to get someone to pick up the phone for an appointment.
WhatsApp contact is a great idea and often get a response quicker through this. I pay an average priced plan now of £16.99pm which covers a nice amount for my needs.
However I have been debating going elsewhere the last few visits. I find the facilities, especially the waiting room could do with an update. very small area for both cats/small animals and dogs - with far too many reactive dogs crossing over eachother and into the small animals/cats section. Not great. It'd be nice if canine appointments were spaced out a bit better

I like that you can WhatsApp the vet queries but I have mixed experiences here and would definitely recommend taking your pet to Hinkley Vets 4 Pets over Nuneaton any day, if you have the transport.
Our last experience was the worst. We took our dog for a consultation as she wasn’t very well and we’d noticed she had swollen lymph nodes. The vet we saw was very blunt and not very patient at all with our dog (a pug), who was clearly nervous about being at the vets. She barely even tried to access her before she got stroppy and said she couldn’t and we’d have to book her back in for a biopsy and bloods under sedation (£1.8k) to test if she had lymphoma. There was even a skin test tagged on there which Hinckley Vets were very confused about as it wasn’t necessary. Despite this being a very seriously and aggressive suspected illness they couldn’t get her in for tests for a whole week and a half. Time is so critical, so we booked her in with Hinckley vets 4 pets two days later. They were really surprised to hear that sedation would be needed and such an in depth biopsy when a fine needle biopsy could be done (£400) without the need for sedation. They managed to do this and bloods without any issue on the day (clearly had a better and more calming bedside manner).
Sadly our dog did have lymphoma and passed away 2 and a half weeks after her first appointment at the Nuneaton branch. But during that time she had many tests and appointments, as well as medication to help ease some of the side effects and to try and treat the illness. If we would have waited for Nuneaton, she would have suffered so much more and would have been dead before we even got the results back. So if you can, swerve!

Awful place
Been twice. First time with my dog.
Experiencing dizziness.
Vet recommended a 2k scan. We didn't have insurance, so agreed to pay. They didn't have space to do the scan that day and said come back the next day and next day my dog was absolutely fine! Imagine if they had space that day ild be 2k down!
2nd time i took my cat. I was told he needed an emergency operation for a urine infection. They told me it would be around £500. The total bill ended up being £1900.
These absolute jokers have scammed me twice!!
Be careful everyone avoid! Especially if you have no insurance, theyre quite happy to take your money with zero cares about you or your pet.
Edit review after reply.
@petsathome
You'll find our animals under the names pig and Kevin. Same surname ...
And let's not lie guys you DID tell me my dog needed a scan at 2k (you suspected a stroke or broken back!)
She was absolutely fine the next day!!!
Now check these details again, don't blag it and come bk to me yeah! I have zero need to email you, they'll be nothing you can do to fix how you have behaved.

I rang them at 6:15 on a Friday night explained my urgent situation for my cat told them I am housebound and had to get someone to come with me to help me and that my cat has been sick for two days and today is not eating anything. All I got was you must ring us first thing in the morning that is our Policy even though they have appointments for tomorrow (and we all know what happens at Dr surgeries) which will possibly be gone by the time I get through.
Also their policy is regular customers come first and anybody else’s Animal is not classed as a priority!
