The reception team are helpful but the vets employed there are a mixed bag (good to really ordinary, at best). Sadly, you can tell it’s a franchise model with profits coming first. Save yourself the hassle and go to Greens Vets (about 10mins away from here in the car) every one of them genuinely love pets and they don’t do the hard sell of “well that will be another vets appointment of x amount” they give you options to consider.

Awful experience from some of the staff here. I’ve come across 1 vet who genuinely seems to care about animals, the rest, I wouldn’t entrust near my cat again. For context, I booked in to get my cat spayed with them and I was provided with a piece of paper of a price list for what I assumed was extra for my cat’s recovery. First time owning a pet so I’m not very knowledgable in terms of what vets provide during and after the procedure but assumed all necessities as in, anything my cat needs in order to successfully come out healthy after the procedure would be provided. Almost 0 advice was provided before, during but especially after the procedure. After taking my cat home, she was visibly in so much pain so myself and my partner went back and forth to the vets to find any type of relief we can provide to my cat and found out after our 3rd visit from taking my cat home, someone should have advised us to buy pain killers for my cat! This wasn’t mentioned at all at any point before, during or after the procedure and instead the woman sat in reception on my 2nd visit called my cat “sassy” as if to say she’s just in a mood and not in pain! I have also come across other customers of this vet who had a similar experience with unprofessional workers and 0 empathy for their pets. The guy was having to put his dog down and the person behind the desk was so cold towards him! Key takeaway from my experience - my sister also has a cat and goes to a different vets4pets as she lives in London. She has 0 complaints and was provided with pain killers for her cat for free after being spayed. So it seems, it depends on the branch. But also, will never step foot here again.

I took a ferrel cat here for treatment about 9 years ago and they extracted his teeth due to stomatitis which was not diagnosed by them, they just said his teeth were dirty and grimey. I paid them around £500.00 for the extractions and had a voucher from Cats Protection so I also had him neutered and then took him to the Pdsa as he wasn't getting better. They found that he had stomatitus and that his roots were left in, meaning that they at Vets4pets Birleymoor hadn't extracted the teeth correctly meaning that the ferral cat that I had entrusted into their care was left in pain! And the poor cat had to go through another op again to extract the roots. And I paid privately for this!? And looking at their website now of their staffs pretty pictures of them holding their pretty little pets makes me so angry because I remember how they couldn't give a damn about a ferrel, a ferrel I paid them to treat thinking I was getting the best care for him. A ferral that suffered due to their incompetence! A ferral they didn't give a damn about, a ferral that their nurses didn't have the expertise to handle. A ferrel named Pheonix that they left in pain because they didn't remove his teeth and roots correctly! Look at their pretty pictures of their staff with their pretty pets. It's not reality! Just their fairytale not reality! The reality is that they want to attract more business by appearing kind! Well the state that they left Pheonix in was not kind! He has gone to heaven now but at least he was loved by me 💔. Pictures attached are of Pheonix looking very tame and happy. It took me 2 years to get him to that! And if you look closely he is wearing a harness and leash, not that he needed it because he never wanted to go outside alone again! And consider this, they haven't even reacted to this post with either an apology or a query? That to me speaks volumes about who they are!

I recently arrived home to discover an unwell pigeon laid on my doorstep. I rang Birley Moor Vets to see if they could offer advice on what to do as they are local to me. They advised that if we brought the pigeon in, they would do their best to help. They kept us updated on the pigeons progress and while he sadly died, I am very grateful that he died peacefully with the dedicated staff at Birley Moor Vets4Pets rather than on the street. They provide a great service with compassion.

Such an awful experience brought us to the Vets, but Karol and the Vet team (along with the out of hours people at VetsNow) did an excellent job to care for our beloved pet and make their stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you all.

The staff here are amazing, especially the vet nurses who made sure my cat, Billy, was well cared for after surgery and helped him recover with the best aftercare support. Sally and the team made decisions in the best interests of the animal, not just the easy decision and were super supportive and helpful. I would whole heartedly recommend this team
