I recently had to let my dog go after an acute illness. Whilst I’m still devastated I must express my gratitude to the ones who made an impossible decision a little easier- To Guy- You’re a great vet, your advice and understanding made the process of making a very difficult decision so much easier- Thank you and am truly grateful you were there that day to say the the words you did. To Anca- The kindness and respect you gave my little girl in her last moments meant so much, i know you were very busy that day, you probably hadn’t had lunch or sat down for 5 minutes but you still gave us all your time and attention, You’re a wonderful vet, Thank you. Lastly to Tania- i know you were probably fully booked that day we had to let her go but you made it work and have always have been so kind to me an Roxy and went above and beyond for us. I received your card, I have read it many times on the really bad days. You’re a credit to the team and I will never forget your kindness and care, a true angel- Thank you. You all have very difficult job, I know it’s not all puppies and kittens and expectations are very difficult to manage but I will never forget your kindness and professionalism, not just to me but to my little girl over the past year, you’re a wonderful team with some wonderful people in it and I’m very grateful to have you

After being on a pet plan with this veterinary practice for over 3 years, I’ve unfortunately decided to leave, which is something I never expected when I first joined. I originally registered with the Northwood branch and the service there was excellent. The vets were attentive, took the time to listen, and genuinely cared about my dog’s wellbeing. Consultations felt thorough and personal — the vet would discuss symptoms I had noticed and talk through my dog’s overall health. That level of care was the reason I stayed on their pet plan for so long. However, over time the Northwood branch began operating fewer days each week and eventually I was moved to the Bushy branch without any real consultation. I later found out the site had closed due to staff shortages. This change made visits far more inconvenient for me — the drive is longer and parking is very difficult — but I accepted it because I assumed the level of care would remain the same. Unfortunately, since moving to the Bushy branch the service has noticeably declined. There seems to be a different vet almost every visit, consultations feel rushed, and the experience has become very impersonal. Most appointments now feel like a quick “annual vaccine and go,” with very little discussion about my dog’s health compared to the care I previously received. The final straw was a recent experience regarding flea and worm medication. Because of the longer journey to the branch, I asked if the medication could be delivered to my home. I was told it would be sent by the end of the week or early the following week, which was fine. However, the very next day I received a text message reminding me that I had an appointment with a nurse. Wanting to make sure my dog was healthy, I took half a day off work and attended the appointment at 9am. When I arrived and checked in, the receptionist told me there was no appointment booked for me. Another receptionist then suggested the text had probably been sent simply because medication delivery was due — not because I had an appointment. I was honestly speechless. Receiving an appointment reminder when no appointment exists — especially after taking time off work — shows a serious lack of organisation and consideration for clients’ time. It’s a real shame because this practice used to be fantastic, and I trusted them with my dog’s care for years. Sadly, the service is no longer what it once was, and the experience has become disappointing and frustrating. I truly hope the management reviews how the practice is being run, because the decline in service is very noticeable.

Really good experience with the vet we saw. He suggested a diet change before going ahead with expensive tests. The reception team were also lovely.

I've always found the staff at Blythwood Bushey very friendly and caring both towards me and my cat. Lisa and Tracey on reception are lovely. The nurses are really good with my cat.

We have been with Blythwood Vets for over 4 years. The recent interactions and experience with them has been very disappointing. Specifically, the reception staff in both Hatch End (don't know her name) and Bushey practices have been impatient, disrespectful and rude. We called the Vets when we noticed a big swelling in my dog's neck on a Monday. We were booked in to see the Vets after 5 days. There was some confusion about my appointment and to wanted to reschedule for the same day. However, Lisa (Bushey practice) was very unhelpful and disconnected the phone when I was still in the middle of the conversation. This is very unprofessional and unempathetic. We care about our pets and it is only natural to be anxious and emotional that even after waiting for 5 days and to be told that our dog couldn't been seen that day. The way I was spoken to and finally to disconnect the call while I was still speaking was very disrespectful to anyone. In the recent months, the practice service and customer experience has been very disappointing and poor. Many of our friends mentioned similar experiences and have left Blythwood to join other local independent practices. Now, we have done the same and strongly encourage other readers of the review to reconsider as well.

Very friendly & professional from front line staff to the nurses and veterinarians. Very clean and pleasant environment. They are very approachable and most importantly accommodate emergency appointments and great opening times. Only one small suggestion ( Not a complaint ) A reminder for vaccinations. I would definitely continue to visit Blythwood Vets for the care and well-being of my pet
