I would strongly advise caution when considering using Burch Tree Vets (Carnforth). I cannot comment on the Morecambe centre, as our experience was specifically with the Carnforth branch. After recently registering with them, we have decided to move our dog to another veterinary practice. Our dog was being investigated for possible Addison’s Disease, a serious condition that can potentially become life-threatening, especially during times of stress. We needed a practice that could provide appropriate care, reassurance, and clear communication. We were advised to use the Carnforth centre rather than Morecambe for blood testing. After booking a consultation and blood test for Monday, the appointment was moved to Wednesday due to them not having the correct equipment. Upon arrival, the receptionist was extremely dismissive and spoke to us in a way that made us feel we were not being listened to. While waiting, the vet came out but did not acknowledge us or our dog. During the consultation, despite already sending over his history and explaining the reason for the appointment, the vet did not engage with our dog and simply asked what we wanted. After paying the £65 consultation fee, we expected a thorough examination before arranging blood tests. Instead, the check lasted around a minute and consisted only of a quick mouth check, ear check, and feel of his hip, with no reassurance or explanation. We left feeling extremely disappointed, especially given how stressful the situation already was. The appointment lasted less than 10 minutes and no blood test was booked due to further confusion around equipment, costs, and whether our dog needed to stay with them. We later discovered their notes stated that we had cancelled the appointment, which is incorrect. We contacted the Morecambe branch and received an apology, with the possibility of a refund. However, we were later informed that they were satisfied with the notes from the receptionist and vet and that no refund would be issued. We had already moved to a new vet, and the difference was significant. The consultation lasted 45 minutes, the team were caring and professional, and our dog was treated with kindness. They carried out the blood test immediately, with results returned within three hours. Thankfully, he did not have Addison’s Disease. He does have early signs of arthritis, but no hip issues as previously suggested. Our new vets explained everything clearly and restored our confidence in veterinary care. Again, I cannot comment on the Morecambe centre, but based on our experience, I would strongly advise against using Burch Tree Vets Carnforth.

We had a fantastic experience at the practice with Holly, the vet nurse, during Marvin’s routine check-up. Marvin is a very reactive and anxious dog, so vet visits can be difficult, but this appointment was genuinely positive from start to finish. Holly was calm, patient, and focused on keeping things low stress, taking time to engage with Marvin at his own pace and helping him feel safe and relaxed. We left with a happy, settled dog, which means a great deal to us. The receptionist was also incredibly welcoming and friendly, creating a calm atmosphere from the moment we arrived. One of the real benefits of the pet plan is being able to attend regular visits to help socialise Marvin and build positive associations, and experiences like this are making a real difference to his confidence. Thank you to the whole team for such kind and thoughtful care.

I cannot fault the Burch Tree practice - a lovely, caring team with knowledgeable vets (special mention to Maddie, Nicola & Henry). I have taken all of my cats there recently and each received excellent treatment and lots of fuss and love from the super-kind nurses. Would highly recommend 😊

Always professional, polite, welcoming and good fun. Whilst Rocky isn't too keen, he is welcomed and looked after based on how he is that day. Awesome

My dog had ACL surgery the other day by Chris. Not only have they taken extremely good care of her she still loves going in the vets. Throughout before her surgery I had support and also after. Amazing team. Very grateful for their care of my pet. Highly recommend them. Explained everything even when I asked what may be seen as daft questions they took the time to put my mind at rest and help me aid her in her recovery.
