Absolutely blown away at the care and compassion given by the Vet we saw there (didn't get her name unfortunately, but was from Australia) My friends Staffy is 13 and has recently (after only one operation when she was a puppy, and no other health issues) started to lose weight and rapidly declining fur and general health. At her age, he was worried that they would immediately put her to sleep. From the moment we went in, it was clear she loves animals, and got a detailed picture of what had been happening, and gave her a thorough examination. Then went on to explain, is the nicest way that medication and exploratory tests would just distress her, and that the kindest option would be to think about putting her to sleep. She said it wasn't an immediate thing that was needed there and then, she's eating still and quite alert, and wasn't showing any obvious signs of pain, still able to get herself out for toilet. She explained that there were options where specialist would come to his home and do it, explained how it would be done, and that there would be no pain or suffering. Explained in a calm, caring and non patronising way, with genuine love for her. She printed off a guide sheet to work out the quality of life, and give him time to get to terms with the next steps. Whilst not a happy ending, a remarkably compassionate handling of a terrible situation. Thank you.

i found a baby great tit in the garden with no sight of mum around and the poor little guy was shivering and opening his mouth for food, so i took him inside overnight and it was trying to fly the next morning. i got recommended to take it to dearne valley vets cos no rescues were getting back to me and apparently they’re really good with getting them rescued if they’re not injured bad and don’t need to be PTS like most vets do. so i dropped it off yesterday morning and i called a few hours later and a woman said it’d died in night which obviously isn’t right cos i dropped it off in the morning, then i asked how it died and she said ‘it just died’. it was really cold and i was shocked. i knew it didn’t just die so i went in and they told me they put it to sleep cos it was unwell. gutted cos i feel like they didn’t even give it a chance and now i regret taking it there. rescues have since replied shocked that they dealt with the baby bird like that. i just don’t want anyone else to take wildlife here thinking they’ll help cos i believe they didn’t even try.

We took our dog to this vet out of hours on a Friday night and the experience was extremely distressing and, in hindsight, completely unnecessary. Within seconds of shaving his foot, we were told the swelling on his toe was a tumour and that he would need a toe amputation the following Monday at a cost of around £2,000. This was presented to us very quickly and with little explanation, and we felt enormous pressure to consider a major surgery almost immediately. We left feeling shocked, upset and worried — both emotionally and financially — at the thought that our dog might need part of his toe amputated. Thankfully, we trusted our instincts and sought a second opinion a few days later. The second vet took the time to properly examine him and advised that it looked far more like an infection than a tumour. They prescribed a week of antibiotics and pain relief costing around £60. A stark difference from a £2000 amputation. After completing the medication, the swelling completely cleared up. We returned for a follow-up examination and the vet thoroughly checked for any lumps or abnormalities and confirmed there was absolutely nothing there. We were originally told our dog needed an urgent £2,000 amputation for what turned out to be a simple infection that resolved with basic treatment. The contrast between the two diagnoses is alarming. Being told so quickly and so confidently that our dog needed part of his toe amputated caused unnecessary stress and anxiety and could easily have led to an avoidable operation if we had not sought a second opinion. We were so close to agreeing to the op through fear of losing our beloved dog, we would have done anything to make sure he received the care he needed We would strongly advise other pet owners to be cautious and always seek a second opinion before agreeing to expensive or invasive procedures recommended here.

Over the years ive been here before with my staffy for ops, but never left a review. Each time & more recently a successful op carried out by Neo, who i found really genuine/caring & explained everything from start to finish which was much appreciated. The comms/updates could have been slightly better throughout the day, but this wasnt an issue as I work/live locally so just dropped in. The lady on receptionist processed my claim no problem, so all-in-all a very good team that takes care of everything just when you need it 🐶 x

We had to rush one of our much loved dogs through early hours last Saturday. Sadly his heart and other organs were shutting down. It absolutely crushed us having to let him go. The staff that was there were so lovely. Gave us time to sit with him for a while afterwards. We had 16 years 9 months and 14 days full of love with our boy. We went to pick his ashes up today and again was treated with care. Thankyou so much for your care shown to our gorgeous Booboo and to us. Karen and Ian Walker Xx🐾💙

The vets and staff here showed a huge amount of professionalism and compassion during our final time with our faithful rescue dog, Stella. Their 24 hour service proved invaluable when out dog needed urgent attention and subsequent treatment. Thank you to all concerned and I would highly recommend your veterinarian services to all pet owners out there.

My experience has only ever been positive. I have always been dealt with kindly and recently quite sympathetically and compassionately after losing a dear pet. They gave him care and love and a dignified passing. Even their empathies after his passing was above and beyond. Not just in a professional capacity but also from a human standpoint, they showed real fellow feeling. They really care about the animals they treat and the people that own and love them. Pics of my beautiful Leo.
