Had my Labradoodles annual booster today. Was horrified when I came to pay. The cost was £92, and that's without kennel cough. If I'd had known I wouldn't have had it done there. Phoned 2 other local vets and they would have charged £62 - £68. Will be going elsewhere after 23 years.

Really disappointed and due to a poor decision made by a vet at this practise my puppy now has to go in for a second operation that will cost me hundreds. I took my puppy here to be spade as this was the recommended practise in the area by Dogs Trust (where I adopted my puppy). Prior to her being spade myself, our vets and the groomers noticed the puppy has double due claws on both back feet. One dewclaw normal, the other floppy and boneless (like a skin tag). The floppy dewclaws were very curled and growing inwards going towards the pads and we were strongly advised by our vets to have these removed when she is spade as they will eventually grow into her pads and cause an infection. When we took her to this vets (as recommended by our adoption centre) the vet refused to remove them. Now 2 months later we have been advised that they have gotten so bad that they will eventually cause our dog a great deal of pain and guaranteed infection if they are not removed as soon as possible. By this vets making this decision it was only a matter of time before my dog would be in a serious amount of pain with infected pads. My biggest mistake was trusting this vets and I should have ignored the recommendation to have her spade here and stuck to my regular vets. Now my dog is struggling and I have to fork out £330 to have her put under anesthesia again to have them removed. The claws are essentially a ticking clock; they can’t be cut because they are so curled so this vets decision to leave them meant that she would rather wait for them to infect and hurt my dog than resolve the problem immediately. Poor advice and vet care so no, I would not recommend trusting them with your animals.

Our spaniel received excellent care at South Beech for neutering and a hernia repair. Excellent service from receptionists, Vet and discharge nurse. The whole procedure was carefully explained, nothing was rushed and our pet was well looked after. South Beech fully supported the work of Dogs Trust, Basildon.

When our cat got sick for the first time ever South Beech were a god send. We got a same day appointment both times we needed to being him in. The vets explained everything thoroughly and clearly. They were also very good with our very anxious cat and handled him very well. The patient care staff and receptionist were also brilliant from booking the appointments, greeting us on arrival and making sure we had everything we needed before we left. Very happy this our local vets.

All the vet staff have been so supportive and caring in supporting my very loved and poorly elderly cat. They have helped us prolong his life through medication and given us more precious time with him. You never feel rushed or that your pet isn’t special. I can’t thank them enough for there kindness.
