Would put no stars if possible. Had to bring my dog here to due it being late in the evening and I was basically told she would need surgery or to be put to sleep. Due to her age I was not happy to put her through surgery. I discharged her and took her to my vet and was told she could have surgery but it was not necessary and that the issue could be managed on pain meds and recovery. A month later and she is back to herself with a very slight limp. I have no insurance left as Wear Referrals charged £2000 to keep her in for 2 nights, a heart scan and some bloods. I was quoted £5,500-£7000 for her stay and surgery. My vets advised if I did go ahead with surgery it would be £1600 inc the xray. I feel robbed and completely taken advantage of. Please avoid or only go out of hours for pain medication and wait to take your pet to your own vet.

The team at this emergency vet practice was incredibly proficient and calm during a stressful situation. The staff were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and personable, which made a huge difference. I’m very grateful for the care and professionalism they showed.

Excellent care received at Wear for my pug Arthur! All staff were caring and friendly. Thank you Matt for looking after Arthur whilst he was in your care! Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again if needed in future

We had to use this practice over a weekend. While the care and compassion shown toward our dog were excellent, we were disappointed by the lack of communication and empathy shown to us as owners. Our regular vet referred us and contacted the referrals team to obtain a treatment estimate, which was quoted between £2,000 and £3,000. The vet we spoke to assured us that this was a routine procedure they perform daily, and we made it clear that we intended to pay through our pet insurance. When we went to collect our dog the following day, we were informed—only at that point—that there would be a £50 administration fee to process a direct insurance claim. In over 30 years of pet ownership, we’ve never been charged an admin fee for direct claims. Even top-tier referral centres like Fitzpatrick Referrals do not charge this. To add to the frustration, we were told the final bill came to just under £3,600—well above the original estimate. When we raised concerns with the operations manager, we were told the administration fee was mandatory and the total was non-negotiable. While the care for our pet was good, the lack of transparency and consideration for the owners during a stressful time left us very disappointed. If you’re referred to this practice, be sure to ask upfront about all potential costs and fees.

Amazing passionate veterinarians and staff. Explained everything in clear easily understandable detail. Incredibly precise and thorough. Great consultation. Obviously prices are what prices are and without insurance, would be a nightmare. So far my little Nelly Pug is in the best hands possible. 10/10 from me. The diagnosis is better than it could have been, she will need further help and treatment, again perfectly explained of the route to take. The staff are so attentive and helpful, they are completely at your service and you're made to feel very very welcome from the word go. I cannot recommend them more highly. My consultant Fabio was exactly the Vet that anyone would need or want when things get difficult. Spot on. He even called me back to arrange future treatment and plans that would fit in with life and our little pug. They really do have an air of caring that surrounds the hospital. Really am impressed.
