Will be forever grateful for the care of our lovely Moosh. She wouldn’t be here today if you hadn’t of acted so quickly. Special shout out to Amy for her extra little touches that really made a massive difference. X

Want to say how grateful we are for the love and support we was shown at Dewsbury, on Thursday morning when we had to make the hard decision to let our beloved 16 year old husky Scirocco go. You made a dreadful day much easier to bare and Scirocco was able to leave us with dignity and love. Thank you for allowing us this. You all were incredible. Thank you Dave, Carol and Julie.

Every time I call to book an appointment, I receive excellent customer service. The staff are warm, kind and friendly. When my cats are poorly, I always manage to get same day appointments, and as a pet mum I feel reassured that my cats will be seen sooner rather than later. I have recommended Calder Vets to friends and family. The vets and nurses are highly knowledgeable and put me at ease every time.

We had a really poor experience with Dewsbury branch, as we needed to take our dog to the emergency appointment. We normally go to Brighouse Calder Vets and all the staff are lovely there, but unfortunately due to what has happened we had to leave Calder Vets as I would not trust them to be able to provide adequate emergency care for our pet. We had an appointment booked for first thing in the morning, as dog started to feel poorly at night. 30 minutes before the appointment (when we needed to leave the house) we received a phone call from the vet on duty named Helen who asked if our dog had Brucellosis test done before, as she is a Romanian rescue. She said if not, it might impact their ability to treat my dog. I was obviously distraught as this was never brought up before (my dog had dental with them and multiple check ups before), but managed to find the documents from Romania where the test results were negative. Helen was incredibly patronising and would not let me speak or ask questions without interrupting me - perhaps because I am not English and have a slight accent, I can only speculate - but I have not been spoken to like that since I was at school. When we arrived we did not mention anything until after we got the necessary medication, as we were concerned this might impact our dog’s treatment. We were not greeted on arrival despite being the only people there. Helen was not great at handling our nervous dog. Our dog was way more distraught than she normally is with other vets, who would take the time and let her adjust to the environment. Due to this, she could not give her an adequate examination. We then asked the receptionist (blonde, middle-aged) why they could not let us know this in advance, instead of waiting until it’s an emergency. She said that ‘they would get too many phone calls’ and also said they had some vets impacted by the disease. It’s not the NHS - clients pay premium money for vet services. You should hire more staff then. They send me multiple texts a year about flea tablets, as it makes them money. In this case, it is clear to me that they are absolutely not equipped to provide safe environment for their staff or pets. The receptionist also said ‘I can only apologise’ - it’s not an apology. ‘I am sorry’ is an apology. Then she said we will need to get our dog tested again in the UK for Brucellosis. We have since contacted Annie’s Trust who said that the only law that was enforced was getting the dogs tested prior to their move to the UK and Romanian vets then send the details to the UK - which they have done correctly.

It's excellent that Calder Vets offer a 24hr service. However the out of hours consultation fee is very very expensive. Thankfully my rabbits are covered by insurance. Calder Vets do offer a fantastic service though, from start to finish & the whole team are very friendly, helpful & professional. I always know my rabbits will be well looked after.

As an experienced cat owner and the person who knew my cat best, I found this practice to be extremely judgemental and outwardly critical of the care we gave our elderly cat. Following urgent treatment, they wanted to put him down there and then and I said I would take him home where he would be comfortable and relaxed and would book him in for a week later if there was no improvement. I was told in no uncertain terms that cats do not have peaceful natural deaths in most cases. I brought my cat home with me and he lived a great life for a further 3 years and was put to sleep very peacefully by a different vets who were incredibly caring of both my cat and us as a family. I would absolutely not recommend this vets and would describe them as patronising and quick to jump to conclusions. Sure they must see some terrible owners and pets in distressing conditions, but they seem to tar everyone with the same brush, regardless of the information before them to the contrary.

Can’t recommend these guys enough, we were let down by abbey house in Morley saying our 7 month old puppy, Winston, had a cold. These guys found out he took severely poorly with pneumonia and they investigated quickly as they were the only 24 hour we knew off the top of our head. Did plenty of work and found he had a birth defect of a small trachea which was heavily effecting his survival chances and may require surgery if he made it through. They kept us up to date on how he was doing, gave him some parading around the kennels too which made us chuckle! They gave him a fighting chance through meds and an oxygen tent. There was a little mix up with the pet ambulance and we got some terrific advise from the vet on what to do as the pet ambulance wasn’t doing to turn up. We thought we were going to lose him and they managed to secure a referral to Paragon in Wakefield which ultimately saved his life! I’m so impressed that me and my partner have since moved out and about to pick up our own pup as Winston belongs to my mum, and we are registering her here! Great team and thanks again!

We are endlessly grateful to Calder Vets for the incredible care they gave our 15-week-old German Shepherd puppy. From start to finish, every member of the team showed genuine kindness, professionalism, and compassion during one of the most frightening times we’ve ever faced. The surgery was long and extremely challenging, yet the dedication and determination shown by the surgeon was truly remarkable. She fought tirelessly for our puppy and gave her the best possible chance at life. Because of Calder Vets, our puppy is home, healing, and has a future. We will never forget the care and humanity shown to us and our little girl. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

After moving from Manchester over a year ago now, we left behind a vets that we loved and after trying a few places in Huddersfield, I was beginning to lose hope of finding a place we liked. We came across Calder Vets as they offered the same course of injections my dog is used to having and are very happy with the service. Three weeks ago my dog had an injury and ruptured his cruciate ligament and having to visit a few of the branches due to getting him seen faster and then his surgical consultation finally at Dewsbury. I can confidently say that I have not had a bad experience at any of the three branches we have visited. The staff have all been lovely, welcoming and very thorough. My little dog had his op yesterday and we're finally on the road to recovery. Thank you very much Calder Vets.
