As an experienced cat owner and the person who knew my cat best, I found this practice to be extremely judgemental and outwardly critical of the care we gave our elderly cat. Following urgent treatment, they wanted to put him down there and then and I said I would take him home where he would be comfortable and relaxed and would book him in for a week later if there was no improvement. I was told in no uncertain terms that cats do not have peaceful natural deaths in most cases. I brought my cat home with me and he lived a great life for a further 3 years and was put to sleep very peacefully by a different vets who were incredibly caring of both my cat and us as a family. I would absolutely not recommend this vets and would describe them as patronising and quick to jump to conclusions. Sure they must see some terrible owners and pets in distressing conditions, but they seem to tar everyone with the same brush, regardless of the information before them to the contrary.

Can’t recommend these guys enough, we were let down by abbey house in Morley saying our 7 month old puppy, Winston, had a cold. These guys found out he took severely poorly with pneumonia and they investigated quickly as they were the only 24 hour we knew off the top of our head. Did plenty of work and found he had a birth defect of a small trachea which was heavily effecting his survival chances and may require surgery if he made it through. They kept us up to date on how he was doing, gave him some parading around the kennels too which made us chuckle! They gave him a fighting chance through meds and an oxygen tent. There was a little mix up with the pet ambulance and we got some terrific advise from the vet on what to do as the pet ambulance wasn’t doing to turn up. We thought we were going to lose him and they managed to secure a referral to Paragon in Wakefield which ultimately saved his life! I’m so impressed that me and my partner have since moved out and about to pick up our own pup as Winston belongs to my mum, and we are registering her here! Great team and thanks again!

We are endlessly grateful to Calder Vets for the incredible care they gave our 15-week-old German Shepherd puppy. From start to finish, every member of the team showed genuine kindness, professionalism, and compassion during one of the most frightening times we’ve ever faced. The surgery was long and extremely challenging, yet the dedication and determination shown by the surgeon was truly remarkable. She fought tirelessly for our puppy and gave her the best possible chance at life. Because of Calder Vets, our puppy is home, healing, and has a future. We will never forget the care and humanity shown to us and our little girl. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

After moving from Manchester over a year ago now, we left behind a vets that we loved and after trying a few places in Huddersfield, I was beginning to lose hope of finding a place we liked. We came across Calder Vets as they offered the same course of injections my dog is used to having and are very happy with the service. Three weeks ago my dog had an injury and ruptured his cruciate ligament and having to visit a few of the branches due to getting him seen faster and then his surgical consultation finally at Dewsbury. I can confidently say that I have not had a bad experience at any of the three branches we have visited. The staff have all been lovely, welcoming and very thorough. My little dog had his op yesterday and we're finally on the road to recovery. Thank you very much Calder Vets.
