The Wokingham branch of Kynoch and Patners / Medicare have always been exceptionally helpful. From caring for our two previous cats at end of life to looking after our current moggy, they have always explained things in a clear and straightforward manner. We actually travel further to get to them than use a closer vet practice.

Overall the experience is good, however last visit the medicine costs was crazy. We spent 70£ for the veterinary, which is fine, but 170£ for the medicines is crazy. 15 tabs of antibiotics, online cost 5£, we paid 28£. Pain killer, 7£ online, we paid 34£, 1 morphine injection 2.4£ we paid 41£. I am not naive, I know they made a profit over medicine, but I would expect a bit of decency. For the morphine they increased the price almost 2000%

We needed to see a vet urgently for our poorly cat, and the service was impeccable. Everyone was so lovely and friendly, which made a stressful situation much easier to handle. The vet was absolutely brilliant—professional, caring, and compassionate throughout. We’re so grateful for the support and would definitely recommend this practice to everyone

I had to take my very nervous rescue dog to the out of hours service due to an eye problem. She is so scared I normally have to muzzle her but the vet we saw was so patient and calm with her it wasn't necessary she let him look in her eye which was very good for her he did a good job of keeping her calm. Luckily there was nothing wrong so just had advise on what to look out for .Its reassuring to know we have a good emergency vet nearby .

The whole team from night vet through to the morning shift were very helpful and gave us all the info required. We gave Rocco a few hours at home but based on the clinical diagnosis given, we decided to put Rocco at ease and put him to eternal sleep. Staff was very good as our emotions were through the roof.

I recently changed to this practice on recommendation from two friends. The reason I changed over was not only does it have a very good reputation but to me very importantly it is a 24 hour practice so I don’t need to move my cats from one practice to another every day in traffic when they are unwell. Previously one of my cats had a PU surgery and needed a catheter stitched in and I had to drive him in this state across town every day so he could be taken care of by an overnight vet then pick him up and take him back to the other vet each morning for days. This was distressing for my cat and me. I am very impressed with the Wokingham Medivet. The first vet I met was “Chris” who was very professional and knowledgeable and had an excellent manner with my cat Huggie who was quickly diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Everything was carefully explained to me and an agreement for the most suitable medication was made and a clear plan. My other cat Fozzie came in the next day for vaccines with Diana and she was a delight and dealt so well with my rather large but nervous cat. I am very happy to have made the change and have complete peace of mind that my two 13 year old furry brothers will get the very best of care whenever they need it. I would not hesitate in recommending this practice. Indeed, I already have!!

*EDITED UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF REVIEW* I had a deeply distressing experience with this Vet Clinic. My cat was neglected while in their care — left in a soiled state for over 36 hours, which they then denied. There was no transparency around costs, despite me asking multiple times. I simply wanted a breakdown of cost by cost. I was charged £150 for a five-minute emergency consultation and then quoted £1,000 without a clear explanation of what that covered. Throughout the process, I felt that their priority was not my pet’s wellbeing, but whether I could afford treatment. There was a distinct lack of compassion, communication, and accountability. I also questioned the honesty of the updates I received, many of which downplayed my concerns and included phrases like “owner happy” — which could not be further from the truth. This experience has left me devastated and disillusioned. I expected care and transparency; instead, I was met with defensiveness and neglect. I was told my cat likely had pancreatitis but after discharge I discovered that she simply had a stomach upset - gastritis. After going through their complaints process, which was most unsatisfactory, I decided it was not worth it. Despite me having seen her ons for her stay and without being provided a full cost breakdown I cannot fathom how a cat with gastritis could cost £1000. She previously lost her tail and had surgery at this cost, with boarding, for a comparison! The Kynoch vets used to be amazing but Medivet? Hell no. I will be registering my pets at a different vets going forward. But to current patients, beware and make sure you have insurance or a healthy wallet, otherwise the care your pet gets may be much less than caring. I will add a picture of the state my cat was returned to me. I had withheld this from the clinic pending their investigation, just incase they denied accountability but I am now willing to share it. This picture depicts my cat covered in wet faeces. That is not simply wet fur, beneath she is also covered in faeces. She was recorded as not opening her bowels or having sickness for her entire boarding period, but upon admittance she had had an accident in her carrier. (She did not have an accident on route home). My cat was left like this for what I can only assume with the facts available to me, for 36 hours. And a quick wipe down was attempted literally just prior to us collecting her. She did not deserve this. * Since posting this review i dropped my complaint with this practice because in all honesty I just don’t have the time or will to keep fighting them. They then had the audacity to email me requesting more money that was apparently a shortfall after the insurance payout. Throughout my complaint process with them l repeatedly asked for an itemised breakdown of everything I was being charged for. Despite multiple requests this never happened UNTIL they asked for the extra money shortfall. Initially I believed I had been charged for sedation that didn’t happen but it actually turns out I was charged for a scan that didn’t happen. I was told she had not been scanned and there is no record in any of her hospital notes of a scan taking place. There is around £288 in disputed charges. Since re- raising my concerns they have wrote off the remain £59 as a goodwill gesture. 🤨 I wonder how many customers and insurers they have done this to. If they had not asked for MORE money, I would never have discovered the extent of their dishonesty, misrepresentation and fabrications of procedures and costs.
