On thursday my cat was very unwell so I brought him here and they were absolutely fantastic with him and saved his life. They kept me informed what they were doing and how he was every couple of hours. We were told if we had left him another couple of days he would of died but they saved his life.

It’s a real shame one receptionist in particular thinks it’s acceptable to be rude to customers at every visit. My dog has been in and out with post spay checks and she has been rude at every single interaction. The two stars are for the vets and nurses themselves because they have been great, and the other receptionists who have also been great. It’s a shame that one member of the team is bringing the whole experience down. No one wants to be at the vet with their pets, a little kindness goes a long way.

I want to start by saying this of my interaction with the reception staff and not the vets. I took my dog in due to having some issues with her back end, however, my dog has suffered for 2 years now with server sickness, struggling to keep food down and water at times and lost lots of weight. This has been an horrific ordeal for her, but we are out the other side (and touching all the wood possible, we are fine after examinations, medication, food trials) Now all of that was with my previous vets so I appreciate the receptionists won't necessarily know this (but could have read notes) Anyway, when entering the store and climbing the stairs, my dog was sick on one of the step. I warned a customer so she didn't slip while I continued up the stairs to speak to a member of staff. I saw a lady stacking shelves, who on our approach quickly in panic put the trolley between me and her assuming she was scared of my dog (i didn't take kindly to this interaction but understood she may have had previous trauma, but still upset as she had pre-judged my dog) i asked her for some cleaning equipment and explained what happened on the stairs, instead of helping me, she directed me to the vet reception desk. My dog was very excitable to be there and see people/other dogs so was a little hard to control in this situation. I asked to desk if they had any cleaning equipment and explained what had happened on the stairs. She replied 'ow that's not a great gift to leave us is it' (while she may have said this light heartedly, this frustrated me due to how much medical history is behind her sickness and how far we have come). They handed me the cleaning bottle, white roll and a poo bag. This upset me further, while I have no problem cleaning up after my own dog, I do not find this great customer service. I had an excitable dog, and both receptionist were happy for me to go back to the stairs and clean up the sick. I was shocked as I have never been expected to do this at my other vets practice. They had great customer service and always seemed happy to help (the move of practice was due to moving house) I worked at a 5 star kennels for 10 years and I was proud of my high delivery of customer service, amongst may other things, this included cleaning up after any dogs accidents in the reception area. I went to clean up the mess, which was tricky with an excitable 34kg dog. I walked back to the reception, handed over the products with a poo bag in my hand, neither of the receptionist offered to take the bag of sick off me. I could not believe the poor customer service I had encountered. I sat in the waiting area with a bag of sick, I went in to see the vet with a bag of sick, I paid for the treatment with a bag of sick. No one offer to take this from me to dispose of. I felt like crying, in my 18 years of owning dogs I have never been treat that poorly at a practice. I questioned if there reception staff did not like dogs, yet they worked at a vets. Was they having an off day, as we can do, but you should never take it into work. Honestly, a poor experience due to the lack of compassion, understanding and customer service skills.

Due to it been 24 hours away from New Year were told with the back log it could take 7 days to receive my Shnauzers flea and worm tablets. After mentioning my daughter takes immunospressents for a transplant and we worry about infections the prescription was fast tracked and I received the medication the same day. Thank you so much Team Vets for Pets Selby. You are always so happy and helpful when I call and speak with you. Last year you fitted me in at the end of the day so my dogs huge abcess could be treated. Nothig is ever to much trouble for your team. Thank you for been amazing with our pets - Happy 2026 and very best wishes!

Rang to see if they could help with my reptile however they advised they do not have certificates to look after exotic pets. They were super helpful in giving me general advice on where to look for assistance with my bearded dragon. Thank you so much to Caitlin Who was super helpful.
