We've used Summerwood for our dog Pepper for many years. Pepper became unwell in September so we found ourselves having to visit more often. Vet Byron is amazing as are the nurses & reception staff. Always treated Pepper and ourselves with dignity and compassion. Sadly Pepper passed away early hours of 27th December. Thank you all for everything you have done 😊

Absolutely DISGUSTING. You gave my dog HUMAN medication and the fact we pulled you up about it the vets still refused. She lost her eye because you didn’t diagnose her, absolutely pathetic vets. Do not go with them.

I have been using Summercourt for some time & always found all memebers of staff friendly & helpful, up until recently. I tried making a last minute appointment on the off chance. I was told there was a slot at 3pm. In their defence I dithered. I explained that my father had recently put on palliative care & didn't know if I could make that time as I would need to sort out someone to sit with him. This was not an excuse but an explanation as to me umming & ahhing over what to do! The response from the person who took the call was 'that is not our problem but something you need to sort out yourself & to clear the line in case someone else needs to call'. The entire call was just a few minutes long with a take it or get off the line approach. I appreciate they have a job to do but their approach was very callous & insensitive. This person needs to improve their telephone manner! I decided to ring another practice. Their attitude & response to my dilemma was the polar opposite.

I had a very disappointing experience at Summercourt Vet Caerphilly today. My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM, and I arrived exactly just 2 min passed 9. However, they took the second appointment of the day before me, simply because that person arrived earlier. While that’s understandable to some extent, the situation quickly became frustrating. Due to the way other cars were parked, I wasn’t sure if mine was blocking anyone, so after the second person was called in, I left my dog with the receptionist and explained I would be back in 1-2 minutes to move my car. I was gone for less than a minute — about 50 seconds — and when I returned, I was shocked to see that the waiting area was empty except for my dog. I asked the receptionist if the third person had been taken in, and was told they had been seen ahead of me because the vet was very busy and couldn’t wait for me to move my car. I had already been waiting for over 12 minutes and had explained that I was running late for work, yet the third person, who arrived later, was allowed to jump ahead. This was incredibly frustrating. If I had been seen in the order of my appointment, I wouldn’t have had to move my car at all. I felt completely disregarded and disrespected by the way my situation was handled. I understand that things get busy, but this experience felt unprofessional and unfair. I hope they can improve their processes in the future to ensure better communication and respect for customers' time.
