My cat had urinary tract problem for over a year. I’ve always been dismissed saying he was stressed. I asked for x-ray and I’ve been told that it was not necessary, keep giving me meds that clearly were not working. Since my cat was losing weight and he wasn’t himself and being in need of a clear diagnosis I changed vet, and they immediately discovered he was having MULTIPLE BLADDER STONE, old ones and the cat had to go through surgery - it was not possible to dissolve them since the stone were that old. No one at Glenthorne was bothered of doing an x-ray or a scan. They asked me more than 700 pounds though just to have my pet for 6 hours and doing an IVdrip (provided by the weekend emergency vet). This is absolute misconduct!!!!

Unfortunately, since becoming corporate, there seems to be a stronger focus on targets than animal welfare. I was quoted £1,200 for dental work for my dog without anyone examining her mouth. Because of this, we moved vets and they immediately identified a heart condition, making sedation unsafe. This led to discovering a further heart condition and a pacemaker fitted- all of which had been missed by Glenthorne. On two occasions, my family were asked to make payment and presented with the card machine while their dogs were still alive and in the room. They were also asked to choose an ashes box… distressing and inappropriate. We’ve overheard reception staff putting the phone down to customers and making dismissive remarks. There’s a general lack of empathy and professionalism.

Provided advice over the phone when I was travelling away from home with a rather constipated cat and was starting to worry when she hadn't been to the toilet for a couple of days. Lovely vets and great advice. Would recommend.

We have just registered here and I have used the vet a couple of times for our elderly ridgeback, Efia. Impressed so far…staff are knowledgeable, the practice is clean with great parking and I don’t feel pressured at all by any of the staff.

Arrived at the vets at lunchtime (technically closed) to walk in and say we have no appointment, but could you have a look at our dog (had trapped its foot in the door). A vet was there and said, I will have a look for you, I have a slot ....... The dog had an anti-inflammatory jab, was deemed fine ..... then got charged over £100 for an emergency call out ???, plus the cost of the jab (obviously). This is our regular vet, we have various pets, so have always attended this practice, but sadly, it's lost its homely caring touch due to corporatisation !! Today, Glenthorne Uttoxeter lost a regular, important customer .... good on you !
