Shinfield Vets have looked after my dogs for amost a decade. They treated Pip, my 17yr old Staffy Cross, with the highest level of care and dignity, right until the bitter end. They now show that same dedication and passion, whenever I take my latest rescue pooch (Elver), in to see them. Shinfield Vets is not the cheapest service in Reading. However, I have never been suprised by the prices either! Everyone there is amazing at talking through different options and providing quotes/ideas of costs, before you decide. There have been several times, where I have been struggling financially and after explaining this, they have openly discussed alternative approaches and options, whilst ensuring I know the pros and cons. All of the staff are friendly, professional and create a warm, welcoming environment. An additional bonus is that Shinfield Vets is part of the Pet Health Club Membership, which can help save a lot of money on regular costs, such as flea, worming, vaccinations and consultation costs.

Lovely place, lovely people, Zac absolutely adores coming to see you and screams (with joy!) in the car when he knows we are getting close. I've been coming to see you for about 20 years with three other beloved collies and a labrador but none of them have enjoyed the experience quite as much Zac. All of them were looked after brilliantly with expert knowledge and understanding. Zac needs much more treatment than any of the others ever did but you all give him so much love and understanding so we both enjoy the experience. Thank you all so much.

We took our Border Collie to Shinfield Vets to investigate itchy skin. The reception staff are lovely and Belinda, the vet, was brilliant. She assessed our dog and explained likely causes. We were given medication which is definitely working. The whole team were friendly and very reassuring.

We were recommended by a colleague as well as another vets to bring our bearded dragon, Marshall, here. We were very anxious about this as we’ve had bad experiences in the past with other veterinary practices, one which has resulted in the loss of a previous rescue beardie in quite a devastating way. However, from the second we entered the staff were lovely. All of the girls in the front were incredibly welcoming and gushing over our sweet boy which was a very pleasant thing to hear. The wait time was not long at all and the consultation itself went perfectly, Sophie was a star with Marshall, doing a full checkup on him and informing us of what she was doing each step of the way. She made everything very clear including making sure our setup was spot on, asking us about his diet and lifestyle which was a drastic change of pace from other vets we’ve been too who seemed to have no interest in what could be effecting his health at home. She determined he was all healthy and comforted our worries and even sent us a care sheet, even though she agreed we were doing everything right it was wonderful to have something to refer too just to learn a bit more and make sure we were taking care of him the best we could. She also made sure we were aware of other services they offer which could be helpful to give them a ground reference for his health since he has no health records, just incase he was to ever get sick in the future, e.g bloods. On the way out the desk staff had cuddles with our angel and gave him a very pleasant goodbye, including taking photos of him. The price was incredibly cheap compared to other vets, around £67 which for most exotic appointments in comparison was astounding. I was expecting around £150–200 which is close to what I have been quoted in the past. We will definitely be bringing our other reptiles in just for checkups thanks to the incredibly knowledgeable vets and super friendly staff as well as the amazing prices.

Friendly, informative, knowledgeable and trustworthy team. Reception team always polite and welcoming. I have no concerns over the treatment of my 2 dogs and after a very poor experience at another practice, I am very happy that we moved to Shinfield Vets and would not hesitate to recommend.

I'm delighted Shinfield Vets is my local vet practice. The staff are so friendly and supportive. My 2 rescue kittens were quite unwell when I got them, and the vets took such good care of them and are animal lovers themselves which is reassuring. The vets always took time to explain the treatment options and what they would recommend as next steps. Happy to say both kitties are now all healthy! The vets also give great recommendations for overall health and care, including best foods for cats and so on. They are fab!
