Our little gizmo has sadly passed and has been with the practice since born. I want to thank all of the staff for being so amazing and supportive. I cannot recommend them enough especially Paula who is an amazing vet and truly cares. Gizmo loved her in his final months, she’s gentle and friendly and made him feel at ease. Thank you for his paw prints, fur clippings and card it’s such a lovely touch. Love Maria Matt & Gizmo

When we moved to the north east we brought our cat here for treatment. They removed his thyroid via operation and did a fantastic job. When it came time for him to cross rainbow bridge, all staff involved were respectful, kind and supportive. They gave him dignity at the end and I cannot ever thank them enough for that kindness.

5 starts for the vets from me! After my dog was attacked by an off-lead dog, and he hates vet trips and being handled. We spent over four hours with him to get him sedated and his wounds cleaned and treated, even took advantage and had a health check, nails clipped, all while he was sedated. It took a lot to get him sedated, but we got there in the end, now just some recovery time. Thanks to the first vets’ team for taking all the afternoon in helping Thor. :)

Greedy company and very unprofessional will update after my complaint about claiming on my insurance without permission and the prescription they charged me £68 for when online it was £26.Removed treatment from sick animals that’s the kind of company they are ! A satisfactory professional relationship between a client and their veterinary surgeon is founded on mutual trust and confidence. It is clear there is no longer such a basis to our relationship. We write, therefore, to give you notice that, effective immediately, our professional services will no longer be provided for your animals. As soon as you have registered with an alternative practice of your choosing, if you will let us know their identity, we shall be pleased to supply them with copies of relevant clinical records to ensure continuity of care. The outstanding blood results will be e-mailed to you when they have been received. Yours sincerely The First Vets Team

Sorry to be writing this I really wouldn’t if it wasn’t needed. It’s a Long story but best shortened. My new puppy Labrador had a saw jaw and was struggling to yawn. This vet within 5 mins of seeing her gave a prognosis of a possible rare muscular disorder and wanted her kept in to be sedated and examined at the cost of £1300. The examination didn’t really conclude anything so we were advised to wait for blood tests. Then we were it under some real pressure to get a ct scan at a specialist center in Durham at the cost of £3000. I stopped at this point as it all just felt wrong. It felt rushed and urgent when really the dog was fit and well to any one looking. A neighbour then told me their friend is a vet and the practice has to make 7k a day to be financially viable. So the doubts crept in if it feels wrong the. Something is wrong. So now weeks later after chasing the poor results……. All clear We are 1300 down and they came aggressively for 3000 more. Not really a vets it’s a sales showroom please take your pets to somewhere that cares about the animals and not the bank balance I havnt enjoyed posting this to a local business but it’s a upfront and honest account of our experiences with these people
